You're just breathing in toxic fumes coming off that facemask that's why plus it'll chip and look wack... Try powder coating your facemask. It'll hold up to the abuse and is nontoxic.

I feel like these other comments are fake. It certainly doesn’t look good. Passable for a Halloween costume maybe, but the mask looks horrible. And I’m not sure if you know what football is, but tapping the equipment lightly is not a fair representation of how bad this would be damaged after a game.
