Can You Play the Disney Genie Slots in California Adventure? We Visited Disneyland to Find Out!

Heigh-ho, everybody! We traveled all the way across the country to find out if you can play the Disney Genie Slots at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure the same way you do at Walt Disney World in Orlando. We discovered that there are some very important changes to the way Disney Genie Plus works in California, plus different dynamics that may change how you plan your Disney day.
We rode just about everything, from the Halloween-themed Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark to the thrilling Incredicoaster to the newest ride at Marvel’s Avengers Campus, Web Slingers. We had a ton of fun, so make sure your arms, legs, hands and feet are inside the vehicle at all times and let’s have a blast together at Disney’s California Adventure!

I have been given that card for estimate wait time in Disney world many times. So it’s there as well.

Great info on CA! Back about 10 years ago at WDW at Big Thunder Mountain, my son was given one of the cards to carry and give to the cast member to help them figure out how much time it took to get through the line. He was little so was very excited to hold it and have a "job" that would help Disney. The cast member gave him a special sticker to thank him. That was the last time I've seen those at WDW.

I’m a Disneylander and I can’t recall anything other than Rise being down on any of my trips. Maybe you were there at a bad time? Or maybe maintenance has gotten worse since I was last there in 2022. This really did helped me since I am using your orlando videos however this december I will be going to california and I am so glad you did this park as well because honestly I did not know there where differences until right now! And as I was watching your video I did not know you need to book also for the world of color how did you do it? DLR is my home park, so just gotta add: They had the red cards in WDW before Magic Bands 😉 Also, if DL has fireworks most of Fantasyland closes for safety. The fireworks are set off closer vs at MK in Florida. Fun to see your perspective. I love the pace in California. I tend to explore more vs WDW as I know I’m still likely to get all I want done in the day without having to focus on going big ride to big ride.

So interesting to see the differences between this park and the WDW parks! Btw, back in the early 2010s we definitely got those red cards for wait time tracking at WDW. I’m not sure when they stopped… probably when Magic Bands began and they could track your every move!

This is so fascinating to me - I never got a red card and had no idea. I had watched something on TV about the elaborate crowd management system they have at WDW and I guess I just thought it was always like that. I guess all that whiz-bang crowd monitoring is pretty new. It makes sense that it was facilitated by MagicBands. I love learning about this stuff. 🤓

I'm so glad they don't do the little red cards on lanyards at WDW anymore. It's definitely gross when your kids puts the landyard in their mouth when 100 other people have held it that day. hah Wonder why they still do it at DL. Great video content. Hi I have a question, what should I book first de individual lighting lane, like seven dwarf, or play slots to get an early Disney genie plus lighting lane in the other rides? Is really stressing me this

Hello! No need to stress over this one, Genie Plus Lightning Lane is definitely the one you should book first. If you are staying at a qualifying hotel, you can book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane (like the one for Mine Train) starting at 7am, but it is much less competitive in those first several minutes. I was wondering have you heard of an app called standby skipper it’s a service that automatically checks for and books lightning lanes for you. It’s a separate paid service it’s 25 dollars for a day or 45 for a whole week so it’s not cheap but the early reviews are very positive. Anyway I would love to see a video or a review of it from you guys if you would be interested. Love your videos thanks for all the great Disney content you guys put out.

Hello! Yes, they reached out to me about trying it while it was still in beta, but I wasn’t keen on sharing my username and password for my Disney account, which is apparently required to use the service. I have lots of credit cards and tickets and special event passes in there on the regular and it just seemed a little unsafe to me to share that login. If you use it, I’d be curious to hear how it goes. Of course, I actually enjoy the sport of playing the Genie Slots at this point, so I probably wouldn’t use it for that reason. 😂
