Really nice video! Very informative. Im getting ready to get my Tesla Model S Plaid wrapped in Baby Blue. Its garage kept and its not my daily. Im wondering if id be good just with the vinyl wrap? PPF might not be needed but im worried about rock chips

@tornatic1983 Rock chips can happen anytime and anywhere. We always recommend to protect your investment as much as possible.

Yes, it reduces the amount of bulk you need to wrap around the panel and allows for a tight wrap without any of the ppf to "bunch" up and create issues down the road.

Thank you for Sharing. I will check with the local wrap places to see if they can do this. Essentially I want to wrap the hood and roof of my TRX in Carbon Fiber look Vinyl. Then PPF both. One problem I see is that I have already done the graphine ceramic coating that will need to be removed.... When Our 392 JL comes in, I will not do the Ceramic coating, but do the wrap and PPF.

It shouldn't be too big of an issue to remove the ceramic coating prior to the carbon fiber wrap. I bet it looks great when it's done. Be sure to share the end result!

Does the PPF reduce the shine or gloss/ mirror effect or color transition from the iridescent color changing vinyl. The color transition depends on the light intensity according to the angle. I'm asking because I'm doing this to a bike so the canvas isn't as big but needs to shine through none the less. Also do you have any suggestions on how to wrap around the round stem and curved angles. I tried notching it and it looked crappy with gaps. Is there a technique when dealing with curved surfaces because the air is not as easy to get out due to the curved shape and the welding points which are bubbled slightly. I want some protection because this vinyl isn't nearly as durable as others. I've bought two IRA decent wraps for my bike the one was extremely thick and flexible but The wrong color the other not flexible at all and very susceptible to abrasion and Knicks because it's a bike and my feet are always sliding around it.

looks so cool! so a PPF layer of top of vinyl will make the two last longer? I wanted to wrap my Tesla MYP with a Satin Matte Metallic Chrome Vinyl since could not find a PPF like, but I want the protection of the PPF. So the option is to put the vinyl and than the PPF over it. Would be clear or matte look better on that color? will try to do it myself, thx

Question. I am in planning process of putting a wrap on my Bronco. The color I want it only available in satin. Would gloss PPF over a satin/matte wrap give a final result of gloss? Follow-up question, does anyone make a pearl style PPF? Thanks for any help you can give, appreciate the videos!

Yes, a gloss ppf will give your satin paint job a glossy finish. There is a ppf that has sparkle/pearl in it. It's made by stek and is called dyno prism. Have you try removing the PPF from the vinyl yet? Does the PPF pull off the vinyl too?

@DanhRichardson Most of the time the ppf will remove the vinyl with it. I would plan on it all coming off together.

This is a newer process and the exact answer is unknown. We assume that it'll be longer than shorter life span. Vinyl isn't as hardy as ppf and will break down faster, especially in direct sunlight and not being garage kept. Ppf over the Vinyl, in theory, should last the full 10-12 years since the ppf protective qualities are what's protecting the vinyl. We strongly suggest a car that's wrapped in Vinyl and ppf be garage kept. It should also be treated with a little more maintenance than usual. Just to protect and extend the life as long as possible.

It would not do well. Having a wrap requires extra care and hand washing is a must. Any other way, you risk lifting the vinyl and that's not covered under the warranty.

PPF can help extend the life of the wrap. It all comes down to how well you maintain the wrap/ppf. We have removed PPF from a wrapped vehicle without ruining the wrap under. It has the potential to ruin the wrap if it wasn't installed correctly or if the PPF isn't removed with care.

Ppf will stay clear within its warranty period. If it does change color it'll be replaced under the warranty.
