Can you put Yucca plant outdoor? | Avoid these mistakes when putting your plant outside
Yucca plants are lovely to decorate your garden or patio in the summer. I have put my Yucca plants outdoors, to test how tolerant they are. In this video I will show you the results of many weeks outside. One is placed in shade, while the other is on direct sunlight.
I hope you like the video, and as always thumbs up and subscribe :)

I live in Philadelphia and mine does great in my yard. My grandmother planted it 20+ years ago. No matter how cold it gets it never dies. Great plant 👌🏽

Hi. I live in North Carolina and have had 2 of these plants for a few years. We have them in big pots and they stay under our outdoor patio. They have grown so much that the wind keeps turning them over because they are too top heavy. We have been putting them in a small greenhouse in the winter but by reading your comment I'm wondering if I can plant them outside and they will live. Would you have any suggestions?

This is very true . I have a plant that was beautiful and growing before I put it outside on the window ledge for the summer. I first noticed the leaves being scorched so I keep turning it around. After a while the leaves started closing together making a point instead of the flat soft leaves. And now after a whole summer outside this thing is UUGGLLYY!! I believe it’s in shock or has heat stroke because of the constant sun. Another plant is also on the ledge but only gets the morning sun of about 2 hrs. but light all day and it’s BEAUTIFUL with flat full dark green leaves. So My assumption is that the sun took the joy out of it. And like you said the leaves are dull and luster less. The plant looks tired. I will try to rescue it by putting it in it’s original place and give it no water since the plant retains water in the trunk. Also because of the shock the plant will start sending out “Babies” to help it survive. Another thing about moving plants outside is that you have to bring them in before the clock is set back. Maybe a month before that they acclimate to the new location and the new light. If you move them around too much they’ll stop growing and may start to lose leaves. I love to water my plants when at home, and unfortunately for them I have been home since March. Needless to say they don’t need to be water as much but now with the over abundance of juice I don’t have to water them every 3 weeks. I have bought a plant watering meter that has help curve that Water bug in Me. It’s inexpensive (5 bucks) and very practical. Keep making videos. Through Others errors Everyone can learn. It’s not just about raving when things go GREAT. You have to ENDURE the bad times to ENJOY the good.

Hi Brian, thank you very much for nice comments and encouraging words 😊. I brought that plant as soon as that happened and they are thriving again. Yuccan like plenty of sun but sometimes it takes some times to adept the environment. I also use moisture meter very often for all of my plants. It is a life saving device. 😀😃😍

It's like any other plant, it needs to be gradually transitioned to full sun when moving from inside to outside. You can do this by putting it in dapled/partial shade and gradually moving to areas with more and more sun until it's where you want it. Do this over the course of several weeks, and there shouldn't be an issue. But keep a close eye for signs of sunburn, which would indicate that it's getting more sun then it can handle in its current transition phase.

I have a dozen or more large yucca plants (potted) in my garden. They're incredibly healthy, and they've been there for almost ten years now. I live in Granada, Spain, which is one of the hottest locations on earth, with intense sunshine and summer temperatures frequently in the 40C-45C range (the temperature here right now is 38C. We get 320 days of sunshine a year here. A week ago it was 43C). All of which is to say that yuccas can tolerate even the strongest sunshine and the most intense heat. In fact they thrive on it.

I plaanted a yucca about 20 years ago. Where I live we have 4-5 months of freezing weather down to 0 F. My yucca has grown so much that I have to cut it back about every other year. I is plaanted in poor soil and gets very little water, It has never been scalded by sunlight and it is located where it get direct sun winter and summer when the temperature often exceeds 100 F in August and September.

There's also a big difference between just putting something under the sun but then also under or behind glass because the glass heats the sun even more and can actually start fires

I put mine outside 2 days ago and it’s yellowing and drooping. 😢. I believe it was shocked and I should have transitioned it gradually.

We have 2 of these plants that are in very big pots. We have these outside under our patio. The plants have grown so much that any strong breeze will turn them over. We aren't sure what to do with them now since they have gotten so big. Any suggestions???

Depending on how cold the environment that the plant is in it can take 7-11 days. But if ur unsure u can always dip ur finger a bit into the soil to feel how moist it is

Yeah definitely don’t put the plant directly in the sun I tried it for 2 days my plant looks completely different. By different I mean worse. I need to do more experimenting trying 1 hour a day and so on. To get it right
