Sounds like the super kids weren't super because of over direct parenting. Meaning they weren't pampered to and coddled. That's a weird thought for me. So far my son has been an over achiever and I have done my best to help him amd cultivate him amd be there for him. But... the reason he is the way he is isn't just vus of that. I knew his genetics had potential and would need a common sense and creative back bone. Other wise he would have been an a hole that was only super smart. Super smart doesn't have real social honor in it. Cus then it could go in a way that is decunstruvtive (like a chemistry making meth instead of doing research to help humanity). So hearing her say that she didn't dote on her kids is surprising. I was a single mom too so I get being busy, but I sacrificed a career and tried college twice and started over and over but I made sure my son had everything he needed and my largest portion of attention. It worked too. My kids doing great. He's 17 but he's not off doing a bunch of drugs and sleeping with a bunch of girls. Was always in honor classes, played violin, and is in air force rotc. I consider it the right thing to do still.
