Notice she says be prepared to do it with no support from the father. Sometimes people bank on that and all it does is cause nothing but problems (my mom spent energy and anger chasing after my dad for support). Doesn't mean that the men get off, all I'm saying (Something Elon's mom clearly did) is that work on how YOU are going to support your kids (ie she got her Master's degree) and have that be your goal instead of banking on something from a man who is not on board. Let the courts sort that out in time, in the meantime you put on your A game for those kids and for you.

I do hope I can meet you, Maye, one day You've literally brought me back from the deepest hell of hopelessness when I saw an interview with you and realised you were a single mother like me, literally escaping from a horrible husband to save the kids like me- and what a great choice that was. My life hasn't been easy even though I also have several degrees, I'm slim and look 20 years my minor, men still chasing me - yet got to a point where I started to question all my life, the values I've held so dear as all I could see was the bad, the lying, the selfish to succeed, men cheating on their partners while I've always struggled and technically stayed single since I got divorced. I thought I was naive and extremely unlucky, not fit for this world, but then I literally found my counterpart in you. (minus the health problems I have) Funny thing is, I've always known Elon was a great, selfless and honest man, like my true soul mate, but never understood how that was possible for me to know. Now I do. God bless you for never giving up. You have no idea how many women you inspire out there. Cheers from another expat from the other side of the world.
