Can you realy Call The Sets Released In 1983 True Airfix Toy Soldiers???

Set released in 1983. One out of three new sets from CPG after they bought Airfix in 1981. This and the two other modern sets were to be the last new toy soldier sets under the Airfix name.

I have these. They are pretty good if a little small. The detail is good. They’re very expensive now.

They were sort of cool back then, and certainly something different. The SAS were the coolest of the lot by a clear margin.

Palitoy were in Coalville in Leicestershire, not far from Burton on Trent. They made Action Man and the British version of the Star Wars figures.

had this box , in greece a company called solpa produced airfix kits ( i think illegally for years) , generally the molds were not as good ( as i find out when for the first time i bought the british paratroopers for nostalgia reasons 2 years ago........) and we had 28 models per box, today the original solpa in sealed boxes are a sought after toy for men of my age..........😻

Never heard of Solpa. I think I saw one box of British Commandos on Ebay that were a Greek copy. Not the same name though.

@@toysoldiernostalgia we made playmobil with lyra here as well with one exclusive and very expensive set as well ( arabs ) and solpa was the company that i remember , we even had the british paratroopers with no webbing on their helmet i think as americans because we did not produce all the sets just a few

It would be good to show other kind of plastic figures like pirates, sailors, pioneers, Napoleonic soldiers, firefighters, police officers, gangsters, farmers, cavemen, African natives, crusades, medieval people, civil war soldiers, motorcyclists, Roman soldiers, boy scouts, hunters, astronauts, divers, monsters, ghosts, etc.

Wow that`s some request :) I did a few of the Airfix Napoleonic sets and will do the rest of them. But that era is fun to collect so I will for sure get more figures from other company. Also did the Airfix Wild West and want to get my hands on the Atlantic Wild West figures. Have 4 set of Knights from Chin toys on the way. So some of the ones you mentioned I have done a few videos on others I will do in the future but some I will most likely not do.

MPC did some nicely detailed 'dress-up' pirates back in the early 60's. I got some on my desk battling Marx frontiersmen.

Admit one of the few modern sets I have not seen before. Usef to own the modern British and German infantry in the late '70's. Great poses, always thought the WW2 issue were a decent set. AK47 look well detailed. Just hope the manufacters did not have a premonition considering current world events!

3:05 Like many other types of Kalashnikov rifles, the front hand guard consists of two pieces with two ventilation slits in the middle of them. Maybe it's these slits those huge holes are referring to. The AKM in this set is a disgrace, it seems I've chosen about the right time in the early 1980s to stop buying Airfix 1/32 scale figures. I bought a couple more ''real'' Airfix 1/72 sets, and that was it...

Those holes on the real AKm are so small it would be hard to see them in 1/32.

Hay algunos que se confunden al ver estos soldados rusos de airfix y les recuerdan a los de la segunda guerra mundial pero esta caja salio en los años 80 (yo la conservo actualmente) y he de decir que vestian asi los rusos en esa epoca luego la marca airfix no lo hizo nada mal tienen estilo y los s.a.s tambien eran muy atractivos quizas airfix los saco por el famoso comflicto de la enbajada de iran (no se si sucedio en londres) y intervino el sas.Las figuras de los rusos de airfix y del s.a.s me parecieron en su dia excelentes.

This is interesting. I remember buying a set of Modern Soviet Infantry from a company called Pu Hang from Thailand. They were in fact ex Italeri and pretty awful. I used two, the rest were unusable.

Yes you´re right. You could argue that the magazines on the toy soldiers look more like AKM mags. If so it´s just a mistake from the sculptor as it should have been an AK74. To bad they missed all the other cool weapons from that period.

Do you own the Italian Infantry which were brought out at around the same time, I think? An interesting subject but poorly realised in my opinion.

The Italian Infantry was released about 1980-81 with the last series from Airfix. It was the only new set released in those two years. It´s the only set I don´t have and I´m not sure I´m that interested in getting at the price they are at these days. And like you say it´s not a very exciting set.

It's an ok set the handguard should have two holes ..poses are ok but I agree they could have had different guns

"Modern Russian set in 1983"??!! They look very much like their WW2 predeseecors in battle dress code. The much smaller H0/00 scale Airfix Russian infantry figures I got with my Airfix Stalingrad diorama boxset back in 1976 were of appalling quality unlike the German Infantry figurines that also came with it. These particular figures dipcted above in this video are a somewhat marked improvement at 1/32nd scale though.
