I spent two months in Nha Trang in 2022. Great city! I stayed in a hotel which did monthly rental rates at $250 USD per month. There was many choices, both cheaper and more expensive options. Mine brought new towels every day, changed bedsheets once per week, and had laundry service. Also had a small swimming pool, scooter rentals, and beach view. Right in the heart of everything...

Ya, I've been to Nha Trang and this seems pretty accurate. I personally found it a bit loud and chaotic due to the motorcycles. Parts of the city are a bit dirty. But, on a whole, its a nice city and the beach is beautiful with great swimming. Thanks for the video.

Looks like another great option. "When the student is ready the teacher shall appear" I believe that is true. I was narrowly Thailand focused after my visit there in April 2019. Now I am seeing the attraction of other countries like Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines in large part thanks to you Dan. Also i see some options in Mexico which is one of the few places allowing Americans to travel to. So yes, it seems I need to slow travel many places before settling on one or rather not settle for any one place as you do Dan with Qiang slow traveling the world.

If you live like a local, have your rent covered, it is doable and you can still live good. But I am sure you get this question all the time. How can we retire there with the lack of immigration path to residency or an easy stay more than 3 months at a time. For example, Mexico-you can stay six months at time or spend 200k for a home and you get residency. Similar in the DR except you can overstay your visa for a year or two and just pay a exit fee so there are no 3 month boarder runs. or Thailand, 25K in a bank account and proof of medical insurance and your good to go!......oh snap, border runs once per year, now that sounds good. Need to find out more information on this Vietnam is a very beautiful country. Been there twice with my friends from little Saigon in Silicon Valley Californai,

You are right. No retirement visa yet in Vietnam. People just do visa runs. But we don't know what the post COVID laws will be yet, Maybe they will loosen up to make more money.

@@VagabondAwake Hard to make money in the West after COVID-19. Less travellers will come to VN. So, I think the COL will be cheaper in VN to attract international tourists and many local people have lost jobs due to the pandemic . Just google Nha Trang rentals and you will get links to real estate agents in Nha Trang to give you an overview of what is available for rent and the price. Some include videos of the apartments. The Nha Trang Facebook groups are also good for seeing what is available. Prices currently are considerably lower than they were before the pandemic and will be after borders reopen. Real estate sites probably still list prices from before the pandemic.

Appreciation for these videos. I’m a new subscriber. Too, I am a retired mind-body coach for the rich and fit who don’t want to be famous. I just read a trend report on-line indicating wellness coaching and related health and fitness services are growing in demand in Vietnam Nam. You mentioned yoga and fitness on the beach is popular in Nha Trang . Perfect! Nha Trang, thus far appears to be the ideal Viet Nam location for my vision of beach paradise for living/coaching. Any additional insights are welcomed on that topic. ~ Namaste

Interesting. What do you see as your business model? Will you be working with Vietnamese, Expats, or both. in Nha Trang, many of the 'healthy' older Vietnamese are up before sunrise. Thet lay at the waters edge of the ocean and cocoon themselves in sand and meditate while the sun rises. I haven't had time to research it yet. But it appears they are reconnecting with the earth to start their day. I run on the beach in the morning in a state of Buddha like awareness and I can see in their eyes that they are also Buddha aware. Not all of them but many. As you face the beach, run all the way to the right a few kilometers before until you hit the concrete embankment. They are there. They are an inspirational people. It certainly was more lively in Nha Trang in your video than it is now with the borders closed to tourists from abroad. I think about half of the restaurants and hotels are now closed. As for safety, I have found it generally safe though there are some cases of guys on motorbikes stealing bags from women who are walking. There was one incident in which a local man attacked several people with a knife, injuring some seriously. I imagine the attacker had mental problems. His victims were both foreigners and Vietnamese people. As for places to rent, I think one of the cheapest areas in the city is in the far north off Pham Van Dong Road. In my opinion, the best swimming, snorkeling, and surfing beach in Nha Trang is off Pham Van Dong Road on what is called Fairy Beach or Hon Chong Beach. Nha Trang has been a great place to be stranded during the pandemic. I have had to pay about $100 a month on average for visa extensions. You mentioned that Americans can get a one-year visa and only need to do a once a year visa run. I did have a one-year visa on arrival, but no matter what kind of visa you had, your period of stay was limited to 90 days. It is hard to know what the visa situation will be after the pandemic is over, but supposedly, the period of stay will be limited to 30 days, which can be extended twice in country, but people will still be required to leave the county every 90 days with a tourist visa.
@Ahairygaijin3 жыл бұрын
I agree with your assessment that one can live on $1000 a month for rent, utilities and food. Even before the pandemic, one could find rentals from less than $200 a month. I think one would likely need to pay at least $300 a month to get a nice apartment in a secure building near a beach, though it may be hard to find something like that near the main beach along Tran Phu Road. There are some right on Pham Van Dong Road or not far inland from it. You did not include health insurance which may become mandatory in the future even for tourists. That can get rather expensive for retirees as they get over 70, and may cost as much as rent. Quality of life is high, weather is generally great, and restaurants are very cheap.

The answer is NO because Vietnam has no retirement visa but that doesn't seem to stop all the videos about retirement in Vietnam .
@VagabondAwake3 жыл бұрын
You may want to scratch and sniff a little below the surface. Join one of the Vietnam Expat Facebook pages and ask people how they are able to stay long term in Vietnam. If you get stuck on the word "retirement visa" you might stay stuck as an arm chair traveler my friend. Even in countries that have retirement visas they are not usually the best way to go. They often require large bank deposits that many don't have or don't want to trust a foreign bank to return later. Best of luck, Dan
@eddielacinski9283 жыл бұрын
@@VagabondAwake Actually I don't need to scratch and sniff at all as I have been living in Nha Trang Vietnam for 4 years on 3 monthly tourist visas costing $60, so I am no armchair traveller. Since Covid, I am not able to do 3 monthly visa runs as I am stuck here and getting ripped off for $135 per month or $400 for 3 months as I have no option. When I try to scratch and sniff I get endless different stories about free visas etc which are all b/S. As to Malaysia, sure an actual retirement visa requires you deposit an amount of YOUR money in YOUR Malaysian acc to qualify but you are not ripped off for any visa fees whatsoever unlike Vietnam where you pay through the nose for what is quaintly known as coffee money which is a pseudonym for unofficial payment, with never a receipt.

Hey 123 123, thanks for the great question. True. And they may never have a pension visa. So you will need to get find a legally creative way to stay if you want to. Talk to an agent or go to a Facebook page with foreign expats and ask them for ideas. Don't ask personal information just ask for ideas. Thanks for commenting. KZbin shows our videos to more people when they get more comments. So your comment is like you are giving us a pay raise. So, thank you! Dan

is it safe for someone over 65 years old to retire in terms of safety and relationship?
@VagabondAwake3 жыл бұрын
We felt very safe in Vietnam. The people there are great for relationships. The problem now is they have been tightening the visa rules. Lets see what happens when they reopen.

is there english language library there ????????
@VagabondAwake5 жыл бұрын
I didn't search for a library but we ran into a few bookstores that had English Language sections. I would ask that question on the Facebook Nha Trang Expats pages. People love to answer these kinds of quirky questions.
