Been to a few of these places to live. Doing the slow travel thing now. In Kotor Montenegro at the moment. Next month I’ll check out Albania. My personal favorites so far to live have been Mexico and Thailand. If money and visa was no issue though. Spain would probably be my home. But I spent 8 months in Thailand. Lost 40 pounds. Saw great sunsets every night . And I know I’m going to end up back there soon. Malaysia is very cool as well. Had no idea how modern Kuala Lumpur was. Was just using Malaysia for a visa run. And ended up spending more and more time there. Went to Kota Kinabalu as well. You have a great channel.

Those are basic cost and do not include everything or inflation. For that, watch this video: Hi @KhoaNguyen-sk5ww, thanks for the great question. At 74, I still feel young, play the soprano sax like Kenny G. Still dance and lots of energy while performing. (then I run out of breath and have to take a short breather. LOL). "I am old according to American standards but feel young!" If Covid had never happened, I would be considered in excellent health here in the Philippines. I have 1 person tell me that I am 40, half said 50, half said 60, one person said 70, and not one has said older than 70. I guess that I am lucky, as my Dad lived a healthy life eating lots of vegetables and fruit until 97 years old. My Mom until she was 85.

Thanks for the great question @JosephDurkin-s2s. This question is a little more complicated than it appears on the surface. The best place for you to find love depends on a number of factors, such as will you be stationary, or do you want to travel with your new love? Here is one video that you must see about this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6qXfqShoZiDodk Here is the second most important video on the finding love overseas topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6DOYaRsfdmEeqM I also have a KZbin video playlist dedicated entirely to finding love overseas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6DOYaRsfdmEeqM&list=PLkkrWgjrjsUyTImilOhnTHvE8zMoHRcCY Thanks for asking a great question so I could explain! I am in Panglao, Bohol. I am staying at Abrahams Bohol…a hostel. I am sharing a room with 9 other people because I could not afford the high cost of the “available" private hotel rooms here (2,000 - 6000peso's and up) They have a great large pool. They have a large open dining/meeting/singing gazebo. They serve basic but decent food. The breakfast is well worth it, and you don't need to eat again until dinner! It costs only 100 peso to take a Trike to the best white sand beach where there are tons of restaurants, coffee bars, etc. and good swimming. I discovered the first night the disadvantage of sharing a room. 1. In the middle of the night I needed to FIND my menthol lozenges, but couldn't because opening my closet door would cause noise, opening my paper bag to get it out would cause noise, and finding it IN the paper bag would cause noise. Basically, other than going to the bathroom very quietly, you cannot do anything until morning. If you are a good sleeper, and can sleep the whole night through, that's no problem. But if you get sick, need something, want to find something, forget about it. LOL In addition, which did not bother me, I was in a room with 10 people half of them were snoring (including me. LOL) The lady above me, moved around, in a very heavy fashion waking me up a number of times, until she went to sleep. I have decided to spend 3 months in the PH, and then 3 months in Penang, and back and forth until I either Can’t due to my health, or I decide on which place is better for me. That also may mean that I can live in a number of cities in PH over time (if I find that I like the place enough to stay there for awhile.) Siquijor was nice. The one disadvantage was the very limited vegetables and fruits available on the island. I found a property owned by a very nice Filipino lady, and son in law (I performed at their restaurant mostly for them.) which was like heaven on earth to me and right on a moderate cliff with an awesome view of the ocean. I asked if I could lease a small area and build a house but they said they were not interested. They have already had numerous offers. :( Well, I guess that was not God’s will. Love the beach in Panglao. But, the town is 20 -30 minutes away. It has a nice good sized mall. So I would either live 1/2 hour away from the beach with heavy traffic, or 1/2 hour away from any shopping. Some of the drivers here are VERY aggressive and take dangerous overtakes, both endangering us, other drivers, AND walkers and motorcycle riders. After two rides like that I told my drivers that I did not appreciate “dangerous” fast driving. I appreciated “Safe” driving at a moderate speed. Then I had no more problems. Even here in Bohol, there are only a moderate number of basic vegetables and fruits (not that great for me. I don’t think I have seen a green/yellow/red bell pepper…They are always available in Hawaii)…and I have never seen any place that compared to the number of vegetables and fruits as I did in Penang! That put’s Penang a head of all the rest as far as healthy eating goes, IF I had someone to cook at home for me. …and that’s a big IF. LOL

Perhaps covered in other videos by Dan and numerous others, but the thought of possibly never being able to go back to my home country (USA) from SE Asia (Thailand as an example) to physically visit my family (kids, gkids, etc.) and certain friends...let alone ultimately spend my final days with here on earth, is my current dilemma. And I have been to Thailand numerous times as well as Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia. Great places and experiences! Not much we can do about getting older except live & eat as healthily as possible, but obviously we must be realistic and super thoughtful about the nestegg or ongoing income it takes to live on the other side of the world, deal financially & support-wise with eventual health issues, all the immigration stuff, tax-talk, conflicts, language barriers, etc., etc. From my experiences the last 5 years back & forth from SE Asia and having met numerous western expats, clearly healthy & financially secure expats without much and/or anything in the way of family back in their home country do not generally have to deal with this dilemma. No one answer fits all situations obviously, but I do not see that addressed so it's just offered as something to add to the decision process.
@VagabondAwakeСағат бұрын
I just go visit family and freinds every other year or so. When my parents were near the end, I would go and be with them. It is not so expensive if you stay with family or freinds ... just like they stay with you when they come visit.

There is compulsory license law in us that allows anyone to copy another song, but there is also something called synchronization fee, which is when music is part of a video program that would probably have to be licensed and publishing fees paid. So I would seek out unknown songs that you can get free permission to use.

1958 reflections on selling everything and leaving America. I go by car to Guadalajara, Mexico. Some places, the main road is dirt and you have to use a railroad trestle. There are Americans there, living and enjoying life. I ask myself if there is anything negative for them except not speaking the language. The clear answer is that there are few doctors. Fast forward to 2025. Plenty of doctors, but the question is how do they get paid. I have no doubt that if the US federal government allowed Medi-care benefits (like through an HMO) to be provided to Americans outside of the US, then a lot more people would retire out of the country. Over 1/2 of an American's lifetime medical expenses are incurred in the final illness. How many Americans even make an effort to save to pay for some of the medical services not covered by Medi-care? Have I been to Thailand? Of yes. Started going there in 1977. People are wonderful. For many years, civil servants would retire from California and go live in lower cost areas like Idaho and Utah. I had 27 members of my extended family leave from the Los Angeles area and do that.. Most people never even bother to downsize before they die. The older you get, the harder it is. So I give credit that he got rid of a lot of things.

It has 1 big "air conditioned" mall...good for the rainy or hot and humid day. It checked all of the boxes for me. Siquijor...I liked it a lot but I did not find a wide variety of fruits and vegetables while there are tons in Penang. Bohol is more like an more modern, more touristy, and larger sized Siquijor with tons of restaurants along the beautiful white sand beach. Next: I have not been to CDO or Davao yet.

Go to Numbeo cost of living X (what SEA city), then it will allow you to compare that to X (any city in US). Easy.
