Well imho the problem with vanilla support companies is not that you have too few slots, but that there are so many that are almost mandatory. Supply and engineers for example are so op that you basically just have three support slots I get that it's historically accurate but then Paradox should fix AI diplomacy first. It just absolutely limits your possibilities if the game basically tells you: "Hey, here are 5 options, but depending on much you wanna lose you get to pick 1 or 2 of them." That's like a supermarket where 90% of stuff is sold out but the employees tell you about all the great stuff you COULD buy.
