I will always have an Addicts mind set. Was doing well before Christmas, then a channel I was watching about Healthy lifestyle, up popped Low alcohol wine, just the image sent me spiralling for a month. Luckily I'm back at AA, some changes at home sorting clutter out, and I'm back on the right track. Did 5 days sober last week, bar Friday. Feeling bit grumpy this morning, gotta help out a lot of poorly elderly friends, my health this week is struggling, and I just wanna stay home and crochet. They say in AA get out what your feeling so it doesn't fester! Thanks. ❤ gotta grudgingly go shopping now for this person. I know I will feel OK once I'm out. Just in grumpy mode for a bit.

Great video mate … I keep it simple , drinking alcohol is simply something I know longer do .. I can’t see any benefit from the labels , because who really cares anyway ? That period of my life is in the rear view mirror a distance away from where I am now … today , I simply don’t drink !

Soon I will be 500 days sober. The days are not that important as the shift in my mindset. I know that alcohol is poison and I dont want it. I still hear the voice telling me that a beer would be nice now once in a while but I laugh at it. Thanks Kevin, your videos have helped me very much ❤️

It is what it is, Jimmy. Yes, while it's not really important to count the days, it's a great feeling when we reach important milestones like the BIG 500... A pat on the back for yourself :)

I was addicted to alcohol but I am no longer addicted. I keep it simple. That period of my life is over. Subjectively, I’ll add, I outgrew alcohol and the behaviors associated with it.

Your bang on mate . Society loves labels especially when your not following the herd. Misery loves company so lets all be non drinkers. Alcoholic label so many levels. Onwards and upwards my good man .

Sorry to hear that. Sadly, many people will never listen until it's too late. Well done on your own great decision.

@@HabitsV2 Thanks for your reply , I also went through stage 4 prostate cancer 3 years ago , thanks to the fact that I was not drinking my liver was in great shape , this is very important cos the liver has to take care of the toxic side of the treatment , them etc .If have a bad liver you have a lower chance of survival, I am now in remission , thanks again cos you actually saved my life xxxx

I love this , its truly about the mindset of BEING a non drinker ..does anyone ever gets sick and tired of the same old fuckery the mind plays on ya? I know i do and if you're fed up enough you can too.

I think you have addictive thoughts, it's as long as you can tame them as time passes. I get a craving for something, but then I think for me that's enough. Thank you for another great video Kevin 🎉🎉🎉
@HabitsV26 күн бұрын
They're just thoughts. It's how you respond that matters. People tend to call them addictive, but if you've behaved in a particular way for many years, it's only natural that your mind will keep suggesting that as an option.

@HabitsV2 very true. I don't act on them too. Upwards and onwards

I dont carry the identity because I changed my behavior and desires. I do know, that I could never drink a single drink and always ended up drunk with severe consequences. Im done drinking! Its over and I do it a day at a time. Love the videos.

I like to say to my thoughts...thanks for coming. I then let them flow through to the next. Which then usually is about a completely random thing and then another and another. Crazy how busy our brains are. Must be exhausting ! I picture the thought patterns like a sand wash where water flows. Over time the sand fills back in the grooves when the flow pattern is changed. Takes time . I also notice very clearly my triggers that bring up a thought of drinking and now they are much less threatening over time. Just allow it to flow through and toss a little sand in the line as it passes.

There are many filters between what our senses pick up and what's allowed into our conscious minds. If there weren't, we'd go mad very quickly... As you point out, we have to actively create our own filtering system. Good to hear you're doing well, Jenny :)

I don't know there are two schools of thought one like yours that bets on an identity change and the AA style one that wants us to remember everyday for the rest of our life of our alcoholism. In the end both might work so as long you can help some people to escape frome death keep going.

And then you have to ask: work for what?
@ForTheSakeOfTheSongs4 күн бұрын
@HabitsV2 keeping stuck in an alcoholic identity sucks I get it, because it's a negative identity and it's very hard to have to live forever like that. That question is hefty on my mind those days.
@HabitsV22 күн бұрын
I get it. It takes a lot of work to get out of it. It makes a big difference to have a target that you're aiming towards, a person you want to be, even if that's only a tenuous idea, it will grow and prosper the more time and energy you devote to it.

humans have addictive personalities, no matter what we are addicted to. I’ve never seen alcohol Do anybody good
@rollandjoeseph5 күн бұрын
We only have as you say "addictive personalities " because we all are programed to think a certain way by society , commercials , tv exposure, social media..its up to us to re-train our minds and teach them better
@HabitsV25 күн бұрын
You're right. Alcohol never does anyone any good. The addictive part depends on where that part of the mind is directed. If it's directed at escapism or instant gratification, it's never good in the long run. However, if those same traits are focused into trying to live your best life, whatever that looks like for you, that same 'addictive' wiring transform into determination.
