I solved it, except it took me way too long. I looked at the right move at the very beginning of my thought process but I somehow dismissed it, imagining some defense by black which is not really there, as I often do >< It wasn't until several minutes later, after dismissing all the other possibilities, that I came back to it and finally found out >< Nevertheless I reckon it was an easy puzzle. I made it difficult for myself by dreaming up nonexistent defense mechanisms >

Easy one but, imho to fully appreciate and enjoy the composer idea one must watch how black change defenses to white tries (Rd8, Rc8 as pointed in the video) and how they fail after the white key.

This is the sort of chess problem I hate. Loads of possible moves, each one a plausible key, and it's a boring chore to try each of them to find out which one is the key. And after all that, the solution line is a mere 3 plies. And there isn't even any nice tactical theme.

Win is guaranteed. You can easily sacrifice the knight for one pawn while keep the bishop on the long diagonal that controls b1 and then win with the rook.

Of course. But you must find a way to mate in only two moves. Imagine your clock have only 2 seconds left...

@prestonotes I never played chess with a clock. You don't watch real chess if there is a clock. You need time. Some players take more than an hour for one move. And one player took a day to play the next move.

I thought, knight to the corner (A1) was unstoppable; if he takes it, then the rook swoops down and it's a checkmate. I was sure that was the correct move.

It has a small flaw after black promotes to a rook there are two ways to mate him
