I got it but Reversing it . I think, may he take 8 flower because it is even and its factor also even & get answer in reverse solution 😊 as he took 7 flowers. 8/2 =4+8=12/2=6+8=14/2=7

Ratio of flowers picked to those given is 7/8.Linear equation in two variables.Sure that a middle schooler with strong fundamentals would solve it.

8x=7y where x is number of flowers taken at first and y is number of flowers offered. Put x as integral multiple of 7 and get y. It has infinite solutions.

You can count it that the first 1×2 then 2×2 then 2×4 =14 then minus half and you get seven
