Jan Karsten is only 14 years old. I only met him a couple times at different tournaments, but he's one of South Africa's best. Glad to see him featured on the channel.❤😊

Wow, that attack was sharper than a razor blade! The most brilliant part is seeing it in 10 seconds.

No way I could see that at my level. I was in the "that's a stupid move, Nelson" camp. Always nice to learn.

Remember kids, castle and don't leave your king in center, or else you will be like this Nelson's opponent.

I'm 1100 elo and I found the whole line pretty easily(Not the queen check tho). I'm pretty sure it'll be harder to find when I'm actually playing a game.

That was a brilliant decoy that needs some experience in the middle of the game.

Hello.. Your video of 35 principles helped me get started. My question to you is have you learnt chess under a coach? Is that important or will playing chess a lot make one improve at chess?? Please reply if you see this message..

Instead of Ne5, I was looking at Nd4.

4… d4 is actually the start of a very long line of moves that boils down to a nearly equal late middle game with both queens on the board. The optimal game is as follows: 1. e4 e6 2. Nf3 d5 3. e5 c5 4. b4 d4 5. bxc5 Bxc5 6. Ba3 Qa5 7. Bxc5 Qxc5 8. c3 Nc6 9. cxd4 Nxd4 10. Qa4+ Bd7 11. Qxd4 Qc1+ 12. Ke2 Bb5+ 13. d3 Rd8 14. Nbd2 At this point, black is down a knight, white’s king is very unsafe, and white just offered a queen trade by counter attacking black’s queen (which is the only good move in this position). The line continues: 14… Qa3 15. Qf4 Qb2 16. Rd1 Bxd3 17. Ke1 Bc2 18. Be2 Bxd1 19. Bxd1 Ne7 And now we have reached the late middle game.

Actually, I have no rating at all because I do not play tournaments, this knight move was the first I was looking at. But I confess that I did not see immediatly all those complicated advantages. Only 2 of the follow ups.

it's quite a complicated position with many possibilities how the game can continue to evolve, but after careful analysis I seem to have found the right line Nfxe5 Nxe5 Bxb7 Rd8 Rxe5 fxe5 Qh5+ Ng6 Bc6+ Kf7 d3 Kg8 Be4

4:43 Nelson didn't really explain this part here, but after Kd8 I'm pretty sure the move white had to play was Nd6. If the queen takes then Nf7 forks the royal couple. If Qb8 or Qa7 to make some room for the king then Qe8+ Kc7 Qxd7 either mate if Qb8 was played or will be followed by kate shortly if Qa7. If you don't play Nd6 and try Nf7 instead then the black king escapes on c8, even if Nfd6+ then just Kb8 and if Qe8 then just Nc8 and black defends. I guess you can take the rook after Nf7 but you would only be up the exchange, versus the queen in the Nf6 line
@harry_krish
@harry_krish 11 ай бұрын
Yes. If Qa7, after at last Kb8 forced, Qd8+ Nc8 forced and Qxc8#. Nelson should have definitely shown these possible lines. He might not have seen this. I guess Nd6 would be another brilliant move.

I was going to say what if black ignores nxe5 and castles queen side instead? But then white plays nf7, forking both rooks (though one is defended, and playing Bg7 allows them to defend each other - even so black goes two points further down).

i was thinking about knight to g5, but i guess defending with knight to g6 blocks the whole attack then

I also beat the French Defence yesterday. It helped that black took my b2 pawn with queen when I had a rook on b1. Possible premove?

3:08 -- Nfxe5...?? No, can't be, that feels too easy, there's gotta be something else...wait a minute!! Let's see if what I think happens after this capture happens...I see a knight fork incoming. 🤔🤔 (edit: I figured as much. Now, not only does Black lose his queen, he also loses castling rights. Nice find Nelson. 👌🏾👌🏾)
