She immediately thought he was trying to act black versus his upbringing being struggle that's relatable to the black community. HE WAS LITERALLY RAISED IN A BLACK FAMILY. What I really like about this clip is that it also greatly demonstrates racial bias. Toast and Syd pointing out that he might be putting up a voice, that the problem/story of “Milk” wasn’t as heartfelt of an issue. But those things are all part of who they were. He’s been through the system, his story rings true to him, what he talks about seems to be who he is but it feels like their person is a persona simply because we don’t know the context.
