I started playing as an experiment to see what P2E was like. I enjoy it enough it doesn't feel like a job. I haven't bought many packs/cards but I was loaned a few nice cards. So far I am up about $600 in just over 2 months.

I was wondering what you think of those promo cards. I don't understand why Rat cards are so expensive on the marketplace and who would actually buy them.

Thanks for the feedback! As for promo cards, I think that it is a literal gamble to buy. They might make something out of rats, but if they don't than it's just a sort of collectors item as they are obviously bad cards to play.

Loved the video and explanation. Odd that the cheapest packs are the most profitable as it should be the other way around. The new earning model they released should pump the prices of the higher shines but it completely depends on how the economics will be. If its not worth it to hold higher shines, the price will not go up. If you earn 5 times more for each shadow, 25 times for gold and 125 times for diamond cards, it works. Lets say a player has a deck of 30 meteorite, he should earn the baseline. A player with an entire deck of shadows earns 5x more, a complete deck of gold 25x and diamonds 125x. If its not a complete deck it is based per card.

Seems like they did this to sell more packs. Gets them a bag and opens the game to a larger base. Then they could let the market decide the value of individual cards based on all the other factors 🤔

That's a helpful video, thanks! I thought that all common pack oppenings have positive ROI, as I've opened 18 packs yesterday and recieved around 30% profit ( dropped 1 legendary hydra, necroscepter, sole survivor and a bunch of guild enforcers). But ethereum now dropped 10% so I'm only 20% in profit, for now.

But for the epic pack adjusted value, you just calculated the diamond chance, golds + shadows have a chance too. With all that being said and tested, for the next expansion, I feel that the best way to approach buying packs is dump all the cash while the discount is big and then HODL until some cards shoot up in the meta (for whatever reason buff, synergy, new tech etc) and then sell the copies of those cards. The reason I didn't add the Gold/Shadow, is because they were statistically in the 100 packs opened, whereas diamond only has a 1/500 pack chance. Though, the stats on the rare/epic is not as accurate as the Leg/Shiny packs due to me not using every cards value. I would like to add prices of rare/epics/commons to the spreadsheet and run the numbers again, but I need to set it up so that numbers auto populate from the API.

@@MinimalSwag taking your one random diamond and giving it 20% value is not good math on the calculations. you could just as easily get 500 packs and get zero diamond cards. taking your random luck on X packs is not any kind of standard for what other people should expect from their own packs. you just played the slot machine and lost. that's all that happened. no knowledge was gained.

Great content dude. I think some things to consider are: 1) price of shiny cards may go up as the GU team creates incentives for having shiny cards in deck and 2) lower quality cards may go up in value as people combine the cards when rarity forging goes live and reduces the overall supply of the cards. Obviously not financial advice, but I do expect prices to rise as more people join the game and new features are added. Either way, great analysis, liked and subbed, keep up the good work!

they could also go down if the incentive turns out to be less profitable than is currently speculated. if having shiny cards only increases your earnings by 2-10x, then the shiny cards are extremely overvalued currently. it all depends on the math when the incentive becomes official. EVERYONE seems to be speculating that this change will make shinys MORE valuable, but it could just as well make them drop in value drastically.

I guess we expect the 5x due to it taking 5x to forge to a higher shine. But then again, you can't always trust the Devs to balance that properly. If they misbalance the earnings, then the shiny cards could tank in value

@@susugam3004 The Shiny cards could also just be overvalued in general because of the massive onboarding that's going on right now. Feeling real AXIE energy right now. Blessing of the Gods and all the airdrops are inflating prices as well. Could yet go higher if that AXIE energy continues, but who knows.

@@MinimalSwag I also think the combination of $GODS inflation(airdrops) and arbitrage are driving prices up. Things will probably settle down once the insane DAU increase levels out. Much like with AXIE.

You can win DO packs for free in the weekend ranked, those are minted and able to sell on the market. The Core packs from leveling up need to be minted first (forge).

Did you recognize, that bought packs have better drop rates than Free Packs from Weekend Ranked? A Friend of mine bought some and got many shinys, while I didnt have shiny in all my weekendpacks yes.

@@MinimalSwag yea, I think with the D.O. set right now the play now is to buy the diamonds that have actual in game use, due to the new p2e system that will be announced soon. Diamonds are pretty rare, grabbing those off the market for $70 and below is probably a more profitable strategy than buying packs.

But you have not taken the $GODS cost for forging into account in your calculation. It's not only the 5, 25, 125 that should be valued, also the cost of forging the diamond cards should be valued at some point
