Ding dongs are a completely different thing than hostess cupcakes and it triggers me every time they say ding dongs 😂

Great episode. Those have always been called Hostess Cupcakes. Ding Dongs are a different Hostess product. Ding Dongs don't have the swirl on top, but are essentially the same as the cupcake. Ding Dongs do still exist and can be bought.

Ding Dongs are fully coated in a chocolate glaze where cupcakes are topped with chocolate icing with the swirl.

Yeah. cupcakes came first, as well. They'd been producing them for decades before Ding Dongs were on the market. and they taste sort of different, i think the icing vs the glaze are different recipes
