I have the same TomTom trucker satnav and agree with your findings. Had the same thing happen to me while towing a big caravan. Another thing the TomTom likes to do is route you down single track lanes for the sake of shaving 100yds from the journey. I'll seriously consider Garmin when it's time to replace it.

I hate the rain I slipped on my ass Yesterday walking down the car ramp after loading up a Transit Connect fractured my elbow and dislocated my shoulder off for 8 Weeks now so I'm stuck at home but at least I have a chance to catch up with all my favourite videos on KZbin been a busy few Months for me picking up vehicles all over Scotland stay safe out there guys and girls

I've got the 6250 tom tom and the blue dotted line shown on the mapped route is because you have agreed to go past the point where the suggested route asks " do you want to use this route as it does not comply " This may be because of Bridges or weight limits . There are a few routes I use where the only way is down a 7.5T with access so I agree that route . It's still the drivers choice to accept. Fair play to the housing estate driving !!. We've got a few sub depots in "nice" locations and it's always fun to see car drivers amazement.

Hey mate, I didn't except the route, this was the first suggested route, the blue dotted line is showing the 7.5 ton restricted road I was on. The TomTom didn't acknowledge the height restrictions at all, if it did it would of routed me the other way as the Garmin did 👍

Hi Kev . I see you waiting for the light to change . A matter of interest in Canada you can make a right turn on a red light if nothing is coming , you must stop first . In your case it would mean turn left on a red it keeps traffic moving . But not the same in every state. Love watching keep em coming .

11.13 put your A/C on to clear the foggy screen. Most people only use it in summer to keep cool but, it's really effective at keeping windscreens and side glass clear on rainy days.

My A/C is on permanently, keeps the cab fresh, it was just where it was blowing I needed to adjust 😂

At 14:23 I know this area well form my van deliveries! If you carried on along Dundridge lane there’s a seriously narrow steep bend to the left which one of my colleagues got their van stuck with one wheel off the ground and a Land Rover with a winch had to pull him free

A great video and much enjoyed. Really not nice working in such heavy rain. I quite often find that a sat nav can be very confusing sometimes especially with postcodes when the sat nav says you are at your destination when clearly you are not. Then resort to the old maps. Take care and stay safe.

Got to love the bloke cleaning his bed of his recovery truck just after you picked up the Clio hanging over the fence 10 points there. I did like the old g plate pug 205 with the very much faded roof on the way out from the Clio pick up

Recently I was going through London my Tom Tom took me off the original route without telling me there was a issue . I stopped when I realised the route had changed and checked the route it wanted me to take which wasn’t ideal. I dropped a pin in a route which took me on more major roads . I found out the hard way the Tom Tom ignores any restrictions like a low bridge and ended up reversing back my 16' 2 high decker trailer with the help of a very helpful bus driver . Even worse when the bridge wasn’t marked up on the bridge . Thankfully it was in daylight so I could see the bridge appeared low even though the London double decker buses were going under it . No bridge strike and I learnt a lesson that day .

Another excellent vlog Kev. I use to drink Budweiser all the time at one time as I use to get 10 pack from Tesco in Kirkcaldy after a hard weeks work working on Buses 🚍. Nowadays the cold one I usually have is SuperBock but did get a pack of Budweiser recently from my next door neighbour so that was really welcomed as I haven’t drunk Bud for a lot of years. Very wet and windy weather there Kev, makes the loading very hazardous. The cars all looked very clean and tidy which makes life a little easier for you. And another great blog. The sat nav in the 3.1m high 3.5T Luton type I drive is a very out of date TomTom. It's forever sending me wrong. Use Roadlords on my mobile instead... Based on TomTom but more accurate and free.

"Don't rely on your sat nav it is only for guidance, I rely on my Garmin" LOL. I use a bridge map as well, which clearly says in it's front cover that it only covers A and B roads and that their maybe a bridge it doesn't know about - please tell us if you find one. You can really only rely on your own eyes.

Sat nav are good, but some times your brain is more switch on. Turn left, I can’t get down there. Then you get the voice turn around when possible. Then it finds a new route. Thank you this makes more sense.

Went for a trip to bournemouth this week for a couple days, wasn’t until the last day that I realised I had been driving past the turning for trents yard on my way to durdle and corfe castle 😂 so close yet so far 😂😂

Once you stop half way up the deck especially in the wet it’s a twat to get going and you only got a single winch that a nightmare need twin winches or 3 one on peak too makes it so much easier

Most of the times Satnavs are reliable but the other half of the time it will tell you you've arrived while its telling you to drive into the ocean 😂

sat navs do very strange things sometimes, our old one once told me to take left with no warning of when the turn was comming up while we were on the M4. On our left was just fields and no signs for any services or turn offs in sight the sat nav then proceeded to make a new route because it thought we missed our turning lol.

Yeah always to be taken with a pinch of salt, the Garmin isn't perfect but it's never taken me under a low bridge 😳

@@KevTee I made the mistake of plotting a way point using a large scale setting. Instead of the A29, it actually in a field off a very narrow lane. The Garmin, on passing the nearest point said "turn around when possible then turn round when possible" One lives and learns!

Latest map update on TomTom also won't route you through the Dartford Tunnel. It seems to think it's a 7.5T weight limit on both tunnels. It's annoying to say the least.

What model Garmin sat nav do you have? I’m a coach driver and I’ve got a Tom Tom that looks the same as the one in your truck (I can’t remember the exact model) and tbh it’s not let me down so far but I’m now doubting whether I can trust it as much as I would like to and whether to I should get myself a garmin instead.

Regarding your comments re Tomtom. As a retired HGV Hiab driver I concur,no you cannot trust Satnav. I ended up a farmer's track with a 28t hiab that Tomtom said was proper road. Numerous other instances where it was dead wrong too! As I'm sure you know, you get a 6th sense about it's routes.
