This week the 2 times that you've seen a black Mercedes beer lorry flashing lights at you and waving it was me mate. On Wednesday on the way to Bournemouth and just drove past your depot and then again on Thursday going Dorchester. Hi Kev, another enjoyable vlog, like you do like the next Gen Scania, got to ride shotgun on a S450 when I dropped a Scania bus in for warranty work and they had to drop me back to my depot, it pulled so well at 40tonnes and so smooth, they wouldn’t let me have a go!! Shame as Ive been involved with buses and coaches so long the last artic I drove was an FL10!! Keep safe and keep up the good work.

Hi Kev. Your talking about the rules of driving . Back in the 60 ‘s there was all manner of evil driving on seat belts you could crack open the thermos and have you your lunch with one hand on the wheel . But now. I think it was Malcolm Muggeridge that said we are going to legislate our selves into infinity. And one day you will get a ticket for coming our your house with your left foot on Monday when it should your right.

It is criminal some of the cars people scrap in the UK. That Accent should have years of use ahead of it. Having said that I know how difficult it can be to sell an old car. Years ago I was trying to sell a 1993 Sierra for 150 quid and nobody wanted it despite the fact there was nothing wrong with it. In the end I gave it away and the next owner used it for another 6 years. They then gave it to a friend and it only ended up dying because it got stolen and set on fire.

That Hyundai Accent would be a perfect 1st car for someone on a budget, cheap to run and maintain with its little 1.3 engine. 41k miles is nothing. Though the hassle of selling privately would be what makes or breaks it Shame ☹️ Scrap prices are pretty mad at the moment though, so much so that's it's basically guaranteed to be at least £250 for pretty much anything, from what I've found anyway!

So just for a new hgv driver like myself, what is the rules regarding entering weight limits etc. Its never been explained...
@misterflibble97993 жыл бұрын
If the sign says "Except for access" or "Except for loading", then you can enter the weight-limited area if you are going to a collection/delivery point within the area. You can't transit through the limit, even to access a collection/delivery point just outside the far side of the limit. You can take any (reasonable) route through the limit, so (for example) if your delivery point is just inside the Northern boundary of the limit, you can enter from the Southern end and drive all the way up to your drop. The biggest problem with this is that you don't know how big the weight-limited area is. You're half a mile from your drop, and come across a weight limit sign. Is your drop still within the limit, or is it outside the other side? I don't have an LGV SatNav, so can't comment on how accurate their database of limits is. The main problem is that, as far as I know, there is no central Governmental database of weight limits. Each council adds and removes them as and when it wants, using Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), so anyone wanting to build up a database has to trawl through masses of council records. Note: the exception to this is the London Lorry Control system, where during the periods of operation of the controls (nights/early mornings, Saturday PM, Sunday all day), you cannot enter the banned zone even if you have a delivery point within the zone unless you have a permit, and even if you have a permit, you have to use a route that minimises the distance driven within the zone. So, you might have to take a circuitous route around the zone in order to enter from the opposite direction. I believe all routes have to be pre-approved.
