Thanks for doing this conversation with your friend Konapi. Even though it was pretty high level, and I was intimidated at first, the conversation was very useful just to get the flow of daily conversation into my head. Thanks also for putting in the subs. Both of you guys have such good chemistry, I'll probably watch this one a few more times. Hoping you guys do another session like this soon. Cheers.

Ok, before anything else, I have watched all your shared (as in, uploaded to youtube) videos... From all the similar channels from other japanese people, your videos actually manage to attract the viewers. You actually manage to "touch", so to speak, the viewers in a way that is actually interesting while keeping things as simple as possible... Maybe because you are actually enjoying it? Anyway, keep up the good work. Now, related to this particular video, this is interesting... I thought I would have some kind of difficulty but~ no. I hid the english subtitles by blocking it from my sight with a box without restricting the subtitles in japanese, listened to both of you, understood the entire conversation, and I even managed to associate each spoken syllable to the respective written syllable... I thought that having absolutely no knowledge of the written form would present some kind of problem, but that's not what actually happened... So, considering past videos and after this video, I think I finally have a grasp on my level related to each of the following: listening, understanding, speaking, reading and writing. It seems that I can listen and understand it flawlessly (almost at an instinctive level) but speaking probably needs to be finely tuned (I mean, I have no one to practice with so I was expecting to be horrible in that aspect, to say the least, but no. I am actually good enough at it.). Reading seems to be fine but writing it is practically non-existent... At least, not with the proper stroke order, anyway, and~ until I get the writing part right, I'm keeping my writing self-evaluation to "non-existent"... ... Anyway, not bad for someone that learned on his own, I think, but there is always room for improvement... Any plans for N3 and higher, in the future, uploaded to youtube like you did with N5 and N4?

It was a mix for me, I could understand some things and others went by too fast for me to make out what was going on. But I don't think it was difficult to the point where if I were present during that conversation I would have felt left out, I would be able to pick up most of what you were talking about instinctively with my current level of Japanese. And yeah, Konapi is a funny character for sure, I have a feeling she is great to have drinks with and laugh XD

One thing I wanted to add is that I think it’s unbelievable to think people from countries have to step out of the country to learn a language, specially English. @@mochirealjapanese3430 I don't know if you figured out what they meant by that, expressions or idioms are probably the most difficult thing in foreign languages even if you are good at a language. I am not a native English speaker either (being from Belgium), but I'm pretty sure (they mentioned the "I really can't drink alcohol now" sentence) that they meant that you might be pregnant. I don't know how common that expression is, it sounds like a pretty slang-y one to me. They should have watched a bit further though. I can imagine it can be difficult to find something alcoholic in most European countries if you don't like beer and wine.

Hey Mochi-sensei, you advised confident learners from the beginning to watch without subtitles, but I don't see an option here to turn them off. Also, why do you leave out the kanji for certain words that normally have kanji? I kept having to pause the video to try to distinguish between words you two were using just to read them, which I usually don't need to do very frequently. Isn't the whole point of kanji to make reading easier? I (and I'm sure many other learners) would greatly appreciate it if you used the proper kanji next time.
@YamatoTre
@YamatoTre Жыл бұрын
Some words are commonly written in kana as well. I just take it as an opportunity to practice reading both versions of certain words.
@jpnpod8277
@jpnpod8277 Жыл бұрын
@@YamatoTre I know that, but they were using a lot of words that aren't commonly written in kana alone, like 思う, 出す, 最近, 充実, etc. This is what I'm referring to. It's very disorienting to come across words like these in natural context randomly written in kana, even for Japanese people. Also, it wasn't even consistent. For example, You see them use "おもう" at around 4 min, then barely a few sentences later, it's "思う". Overall, none of this good for learning, so I don't understand what she was thinking when she made this, assuming she's the one who transcribed it.

This is not a kanji learning video but more on “listening comprehension” and familiarity with casual japanese from beginner’s point-of-view. You do have a point, but I suggest that if you wish to recommend something, why not try to do so in a manner that is less demanding and bossy. Or bettery yet, why not create your own video then we’ll see how that works since you seems like a know-it-all kind of person.
