Yeah, their bonuses stack so it can be really strong. This will be covered with some other things in an upcoming video.

I guess a hypothetical civ with a bonus allowing converted units to be affected by civ bonuses and upgrades would be very, very strong.
@AdmiralWololo3 ай бұрын
In practice it would be limited by the difficulty of converting (and keeping) a lot of valuable enemy units that you had a strong bonus for (and as in this case, some of the unit buffs aren't available until you get expensive Imp techs). Honestly I like it as a team bonus to add a little flavor and maybe encourage lategame monk use, but I don't think it's going to be broken by any means.

The developers truly have been sleeping for 25 years on not letting converted units get benefits and upgrades from their new nations. It would be a massive game changer if "Which of their units should I be converting?" were this much of a factor, and having Atonement and not having Heresy being much bigger factors in big stakes games.
@AdmiralWololo5 ай бұрын
Would definitely make things more interesting, although there are times you'd want to keep the original unit's stats. A toggle button would be a cool universal feature, or this could even be a cool team bonus for a new civ.
@MauricioOsuna-et8et5 ай бұрын
@@AdmiralWololo Maybe add the option to give your units to allied players and have them behave as if they were created by the recipient, so they'd naturally get upgrades.

Totally unrelated: i once wondered what would be the most OP georgian unit. The war elephant that heals 15% hp per minute, or the conqueror, perhaps the coustillier that would become the most OP hit and run unit. Unfortunately the georgian healing factor doesnt work on any of those supposedly cavalry units. Neither does saracen missionary enjoys the area healing tech
@AdmiralWololo5 ай бұрын
Yep, sadly those affects are more limited than you'd think from reading their descriptions.

TBH they should at least be a regional unit that Georgians get as well, since they're dressed in Georgian clothes.

If I understood, dismounted konnigs should also follow this rule. Next video?
@AdmiralWololo5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not. Konniks use dead unit ID rather than replacement, which keeps the flags for the original unit stats.

Whike watching got an idea: while the monk holds a relic he is defenseless, so why not temporarily give him self-healing and +1/+1 armor?
@quasibrodo9235 ай бұрын
Now you've got me thinking. What happens to a unit that was attacked by an obuch, converted, then healed? Is it's armor different. Is the full healing, restoration of armor, considered a transformation?
@AdmiralWololo5 ай бұрын
Definitely worth checking out, but my gut feeling is that it's comparable to HP damage, i.e. a stat is restored, but the unit is never replaced/transformed.
@quasibrodo9235 ай бұрын
@@AdmiralWololo yep that seems to be the case. I tried a dark age elite war elephant, attacked by dark age obuch, converted with post imp Vietnamese monks. Armor and all other stats the same. Restoration != transformation.
@quasibrodo9235 ай бұрын
Just tested dismounting a konnik. That too is not considered a transformation

I mean, historically speaking, in a way, it DOES make sense that Aztec WARRIOR PRIESTS are actually bad ass, as if you think about most historical descriptions, they were pretty powerful men of the Aztecs, and in fictional writings, rip the hearts out of there enemies. :D

I mean I watched this video the first time and absolute love it. When I want to rewatch it, I searched for "special unit for conversion aoe2", "warrior priest aoe2", .... The video didn't show up in the search section, meaning this video is almost invisible for searching, it's only good for someone who is curious when the video is suggested.

Hey, happens when you convert a konnik, who then dies and produces a dismounted konnik? Which upgrades and bonuses apply to him?

Lots of people asking about this lol. Nothing different happens for dismounted konniks because it's a slightly different mechanic to replacement.

I can look into it. There are some bonuses that are implemented globally (like Teuton Conversion Resistance) so they don't affect a unit's stats. Would make an interesting video.
