I don't always agree with you bud, but I do appreciate your opinions and research to arrive at your opinions, and I also appreciate that when you help someone, you don't just GIVE them the answer, you show them how you ARRIVED at that answer, thats how folk learn. Also, respect for reading the motherboard manuals lol, I do that every build too just to be safe and I always felt like a newb reading them, but you really should read them cuz things change so much.

I know not everyone always likes reading instruction manuals when setting things up, but for motherboards your manual can be an absolute god send. Reading mine saved me a lot of time setting up my rig, always take the time to get it right the first time.

I actually read my manuals too and i bought the msi gaming force Z590 for the I9 10900k basically for the build quality and look of the board both. It's nice to know i am not the only one even if i know something who actually reads manuals. Thats just playing it smart i think. I even take my time reading multiple reviews and watching reviewers because there is always something to learn if your building your own pc that you might miss and could end up making a purchase you kick yourself for. In addition using a PCIE card in the PCIeX4 slot to put a M2 NVMe is also a good idea to get better thermals, my SN850 was cooked in the mobo... With a X570 mobo I didn't suffer any performance loss neither

That is great suggestion with the m2 to pcie x4 m2 card slot, I have one on my x370 it works perfectly, but be warned some of them have speed limits ( they are saying it is 3.0 pcie x4, but it is not). And yeah I checked the mobo how it works and I had to use second x16 slot for it, at least the x370 chipset has some value instead of the b350 lol

So I found out the Z490 boards support 1 gen 4 NVMe that connects to the CPU if it's 11th gen. However if all NVMe's are gen 3 you will not get any benefit going from 10th gen to 11th gen intel as it will use the chipset.

Or the games data on a second 2TB M.2 drive that is not bitlocker encrypted and not connected directly to the CPU with the lane, but via x4 to the chipset ?

I have the 9900k with a msi z390 godlike motherboard with 4 pcie gen 3 slots and I have 3 nvme 970 evo plus 2 of them are 2tb each and one 250 gb and 2 sata ssd 1tb each 860 evo, my motherboard came with an additional expansion card for the pcie gen 3 to add 2 more nvme. I could have a total of 5 nvme as well as 2 sata ssds to go along on my motherboard if I wanted to. I might consider it if 6.25 tb is not enough storage by adding 2 more nvme 970 evo plus at 2tb each with (10.25 tb) to be determined. I thought about having two 2080 ti's for 4k but I decided to stick with one 2080 ti since I wanted to game at native 4k with rtx on but dlss off and ray tracing does not support nv link that's why I decided to stick with one 2080 ti. At one point I was considering an rtx titan or an even a 2080 ti kingpin but I don't have liquid nitrogen. My motherboard has an overclocking knob for overclocking to 5.7 ghz. I decided to get an evga 2080 ti ftw 3 instead since I'm not gonna be doing alot of benchmarking or going for breaking records. This is gonna be an extreme overkill, but I wish cpus could overclock to 10ghz, gpus at 10ghz and ram at 10ghz. I hope in the future that graphics for games would be so detailed and lifelike and advanced that it would be hard to tell a difference between a video game graphics and watching movies in 4k with lots of details, colors and hdr. Basically it would be interesting if games were made in 4k like having movies on a 4k uhd disc uncompressed. They would take tons of data and storage but the graphics would be insane and so immersive.

I just got a ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII x570 wifi board and a 5900x. It's not recognizing my boot m.2 drive in the top slot but i cant figure out how to get it to work. I'm also having issues trying to update the bios via the usb bios flashback feature. Does anyone have any tips on how to enable the m 2 slot and/or a more thorough explanation on how to get the bios updated? When i try to update the bios via flashback, the led flashes like 3-5 time and goes solid and never turns off. Please, any help is greatly appreciated as this is my personal rig and its been down for days as i was waiting for the mobo to be delivered (old mobo went bad).

Please Help Can you please explain? I’ve been told m.2’s share the gpu x16 slot & makes it a x8? I’m in the process of picking parts for my new pc build. I’m getting a 4090 so I don’t want the m.2s sharing that x16 gpu slot. If there is a video explaining it can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks It’s so damn confusing to me.

Do I need to use both m.2 slots or I can just install my 2tb m.2 on one slot rather than installing two 1tb on each slot? Would the performance be the same using only one slot than using both? Thanks

hi. i just bought a ryzen 7 5700g processor and WD Black SN850 nvme ssd 500Gb gen4, Samsung 970 evo plus 1Tb nvme ssd, Samsung 860 evo 500gb ssd. I need bios update button and display port on the mobo. b550 or x570 would be handle all of the hard drives without losing speed and sata ports? When gpu prices will be normal i will go with the ryzen 9 5900x and a gpu. So need someting future proof. thank you.

what about using 4m.2's on the z690 boards? will the gpu still run at 16x? i have 3 installed on a gigabyte z690 gaming x with 3 nvme drives working fine. I ordered a 4th m.2 for the 4th slot to run all 4 in raid 0. any thoughts?

Hello, just curious is anyone would know whats causing my second NVMe to not appear in bios or disk manager. Mobo is a Asrock z390 pro GPU - 2070s CPU - i5 9600k Currently have a WD Blue SN550 500GB NVMe installed and working fine and trying to install a Western Digital WD Black SN750 in the bottom m.2 slot but doesnt seem to be detected anywhere. On the website for my mobo is says it supports Gen3x4 and the new NVMe says its backwards compatible with Gen 3 as well. Tried a few things i seen online but no luck. Also dont know too much about pc's myself so any help is appreciated. Thanks

Your gpu will be running on 8 channels instead of the 16, but like you said most people wouldn't even notice the difference because it has very little effect. Plus the loss of two sata ports again you would most likely have 4 others spare.
