What do you think about the ethical question? Is it AI-Plagiarism or does plagiarism require that human to human element to it?

This calls into question whether using existing writing as training data counts as plagiarism. If we consider it to be plagiarism, would we also consider students learning to write by following the example of past writers also plagiarism? We’d have to define where the line between inspiration and plagiarism lies, which is especially challenging for AI

@@lourdricksroom As a professor I can tell you that this, for all intents and purposes, counts as plagiarism as far as College assignments are concerned. The main idea behind plagiarism is that you are using somebody else's work - not your own work. If I caught a student using chatGPT (which is quite difficult to prove) that would be an instant fail in that class from me. If you aren't doing the writing then at best it is academic dishonesty similar to hiring someone to write your essays for you.

Hey so i use chatgpt to shorten sentences in my essay or giev a better sentence structure, and in ai detecter gives it a probability for ai, do you think it will cost me my college application

@@Naturexl So what I do is I check my essays in an AI detector before submitting cause gpt will get caught and its not worth it. So I prefer writing in my own voice and asking gpt to shorten sentences if possible. I would suggest to avoid gpt and only use it for ideas regarding an essay or to check for grammatical errors or to obtain college specific information but letting Gpt write for you is not a great idea.
