Can you use Heidi Swapp Minc Foil with an Iron?!?

There's any easier way I've discovered, where you don't have to heat it. If you use some 2way glue on your stamps, stamp out the image/words on your card, put the foil on top, then just put it through your die cutter machine in between a folded piece card, it will squeeze it enough that when you peel off the foil you end up with a really crisp image. :D This way it does away with laser printers and laminators lol....

the problem here isn't the heat, it's the "toner" laser printer toner is like powder that will melt and get sticky with heat. This will not work with your marker. Laser Print and ironing will do the trick. indeed you do not need a "laminator", but you need a laser printer or something like sticky powder or some kind of adhesive (that works with stamps)

This pen is designed to be used with the Minc and the reactive fol. It is not a standard marker

I tried this and yes, it fails. Unless you try this. Put the foil in the print between the paper and turn it OVER. Heat the BACKSIDE FIRST. In a smooth slow circular motion for about 20 seconds, press the iron against the print. Turn it over to the FRONT and REPEAT. Repeat this one more time each side making sure you get all around the print. Let cool for about 30 seconds then - success! The Minc machine heats BOTH SIDES of the transfer, that is the key. I got excellent results with it. I am going to upload a video so you can see for yourself.

You should try it again at higher temperatures. I suspect that the problem was the iron was set too low. But I am guessing here. Even using paper to protect the foil at a higher temperature will be fine as long as you keep moving the iron. You'll be able to tell if you are getting too hot.

I saw someone use a hair straightener I brought a heidi swapp and laser printer for $140nz on trademe the printer is brandnew and the heidi swapp was only used for table card names. It is cheap enough to buy all if you know where to shop the pen is $12 here i haven't had the chance to try them out yet as delivery is tomorrow. I hope it worked out for you in the end as i saw this video is over a year old.

I have successfully used an iron with laser printed graphics. Some results were better than others, but my stuff was going in a junk journal so less than perfect results were okay for me. I set the iron at the highest heat setting.

A good laminator works and you can get one at Joann's, Michael's or hobby lobby and wait for a40-60% coupon so then it's dirt cheap. Much less than a Minc.

I hate irons that turn themselves off. I now own two that do not turn off until I turn them off.Put a piece of aluminium foil under the project. Your iron doesn't get hot enough. Get yourself a $20 laminator.

You got lucky. I bought two pens from joanns. Both were dry. The foil wouldn't pick up on toner cause to light and dry.i want to give it any try .

The mat that you used is designed to STOP the transfer of heat.

The very reason people use laser printer to print is because the toner particles are charged so that the electrostatic force will bind the foil. You can retry it by using laser printed words.

This pen is a not a normal pen, it’s a minc pen made for foiling. The ink in this pen is toner.

the hair straightener has two solid surfaces, whereas the 'trial' had one solid surface (the iron) and one soft surface (the folded fabric) (and excluding the heat mat). Each side needs to have pressure applied simultaneously. The iron in this situation would be used to "press" rather than "iron".

You should have kept the iron still, pressing the paper rather than move it about, moving it about doesn't get the foil hot enough. Thanks for trying anyway :-)

I tried stamping then heat embossing a sentiment then sent it through my laminator with foil in a sleeve of copy paper …worked great …no extra products needed , in fact I wish I had done that first then I would not have bought the toner ink pad and bottle .

The ink needs to be kinda sticky so the foil sticks to something.... The laser print ink works well...

I tried using my hair straightning iron as a way to laminate something small. I also used a regular paper sheet from my printer to sandwich the foil and the printed image. it worked for what I wanted to laminate, but it left tiny pieces of foil all over the cardstock so I erased them all with a regular eraser. Walmart sells laminators for as little as $18. I've been eyeing the Minc machine for a while now but it has too many mixed reviews that has stopped me from buying it.

I also tried with the iron but it didn't work. I even tried without the paper (I sacryfied my iron but it's still alive !) but didn't work neither. I tried with and without the steam, from 30sc to 2mn, without sucess ! I do not understand why it doesn't work, not logical at all because the iron was at it's maximum heat.

It not just the heat that you need, its the pressure. The iron does not apply pressure directly over the wording.
