Well technically it was his fault. The potential of Veigar is that he scales AND he buys items. Where he would oneshot enemies he dealt less damage and lacked mana. I understand their frustration.

I tried this about 7 years ago for 16 games and was stomped on for about half of them. The other half, I was Veigar support and it obliterated the enemy teams. Best was 0/0/26 support, just kept stealing their jungle camps to stack, my same strategy for Nasus support back then but with Susan, I did buy items. Though I did buy boots for like 8 minutes for one to come back, that probably doesn't count.
