I walked into a high end bike shop in Brighton Massachusetts with a 1000 brand new high end bikes.the only bike that caught my eye was the classic pinarello hanging in the ceiling.
@RandolphBumatay2 ай бұрын
I walked in that same Brighton shop. $4k for bikes with 105 groupset. $8k bikes with Ultegra. I'll take the old school bike with Ultegra or Dura Ace for $700.

Yooo you had me dying last night DR. I was giving my bike a once over and replaced a slow leaking rear inner tube. When it was time to put the tire back on I looked up one of your old vids on how to do so Worked like a fuxking charm. “You really can’t front on this guy” I had said to myself. I’m planning to take a overseas bike tour in Adelaide 2025. Hope to bump into you there. Stay up bro 💪🏾

I have a 2010 CR1 and two 2019 Emondas , Disc and direct mount... the Scott with 150,000 kms is still my favourite mountain climbing bike and ridden a least twice a week, and the lightest by a kilo!

Very nice. Wanted this bike back in the day but just out of my price range. Bought the Opera frameset with Record 10 instead. Steel frame with carbon rear end just like the Prince. Rode it yesterday evening, it's light and fast and very smooth, after 23 years and 1000s of miles .Still using the original Rolf Vector Pro wheelset. Very light wheelset back in 2000 and still quite light by today's standards. Durian's analysis is spot on. I wouldn't fancy maintaining a high end modern bike either but I'm happy to work on bikes of this era .

Got me a 2017 Boardman Team Carbon for £400 UK GBP. absolutely immaculate rim brake bike, stuck some nice wheels on, change of saddle and its 7.5 kilos. Awesome for the money and still easy to service as cables largely on the outside and its rim brake.

Good to see that so many riders are still on the 9 & 10 speed Shimano and SRAM stuff. Stuff lasts forever if you keep it tuned, clean and lubed.
@alupangguam7560 Жыл бұрын
DA 7800 is the last of the full polish finish and hard anodizing & highest quality Shimano ever made. But 7900's fatter hoods feel *so* much better to me and the slightly tidier cockpit is cleaner with very little difference in shifting performance. And I happen to like 7900's "XTR" industrial looking crank. Subjective but yeah. 7800 & 7900 can't be beat.
@NickTubeless Жыл бұрын
I have DuraAce 7800 on my bike & it's superb. Only thing is it was 53/39 up front & it's very hilly where I live & I'm getting older, so reluctantly I swapped to an Ultegra compact crank 50/34 but kept the DuraAce bottom bracket. Couldn't swap in a 34 ring on the 7800 because the bolt spacing is too big. A new DA crank was a bit pricey. Everything else, brakes, derailleurs, levers all 7800 & still work & look like new after 25,000 miles.
@mreese8764Ай бұрын
You can add a dropout extender and run larger cassettes, possibly also change/lengthen the B(?) screw at the derailleur. The one that swivels the derailleur forward and backward and connects to the dropout piece where the derailleur is mounted.

Hey DR :) Sorry for the off topic question! But do you think its ok to have a fasted blood sugar level of 3.8mmol/L first thing in the morning? It was 3.8 this morning and 4.0 yesterday. I can't say PRECISELY how much fat i've been eating recently but I know 100% its 20% or less. Probably around 15%. So probably no more than 20-30g's. Thank YOU ! :) :)

Hi Durian! Living the videos, very helpful, as I've been getting i to cycling the last 2yrs. Just a question, I always see older style TT bikes for sale cheaper than a road bike, would it be appropriate to swap put the handlebars on the tt bike to normal ones and use it as a roadie? Or nah that doesn't work like that?
@durianriders Жыл бұрын
Yes you can do that no probs BUT the reason most TT don’t get ridden much is the geo is super aggressive. Can your cervical structure handle that?
@sc4140 Жыл бұрын
@@durianriders thanks for getting back to me! Ok, right, having never ridden a TT i wouldn't of known. I should get onto a geometry site and have a look, thanks. In regards to my cervix, I'm fairly advanced in my current yoga practice (ashtanga) and very open in my hips. Not too sure if that helps..?
