Justin does a great job explaining the wiring harness, ignition box, nitrous controller, and all that stuff so that the average person can understand. Most of us on here are gearheads, weekend racers, or full-time racers but I’m sure there is a lot of people that watch this video that don’t know a whole lot about the mechanical side of a race car. Chief does a great job explaining it so that everyone can understand. Plus running all those individual boxes is a wiring nightmare and you end up with 100 pounds of copper wire running every which way across the interior of the car. I’ve learned a few things over the years of street/track racing and one of those things is a Fuel-tech set is a huge time saver, that’s for damn sure. I absolutely love see this side of Chief I enjoy more the the tv show.

I grew up in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s. Became an ASE certified master mechanic by age 17. Worked at GM (Buick/GMC) as a tuneup tech & driveability tech. I cut my teeth on old Cadillac Bosch batch fire FI systems. Went through all the C3, C4, OBDI & II systems. Got into Bosch L Jet, CIS, Motronic, etc working at import shops. Was always into race cars as well. Modified the early feedback carb systems to work with cams & eng mods. Worked at Buick when all the SEFI systems were popular (late 80’s, early 90’s). Started to dabble with stand alone fuel systems (DFI/Motec) in the 90’s. LT1/LS1 edit. You name it. I can appreciate what you’re doing here. I’ve always been a turbo guy here on the west coast. Being a huge Buddy Ingersoll fan & friends with Kenny Duttweiler has been a great learning experience. I guess the new Holley systems are supposed to be pretty decent for all in one packages for controlling a bunch of systems. How does FuelTech stack up to Motec in regards to sample rates? Having had to use high speed lab scopes during diagnosing factory systems, how accurate are the data graphs for the high speed sensors?

Don't wait until you can build a Pro Mod, start racing even if it's a 16 sec car. Then get it to 15s, 14s, 13s, 12s, 11s, 10s, 9s etc. The experience along the way will help at any and all power levels. Weight savings are better than adding HP, especially if it's unsprung weight. The fewer folks we have to call when something goes wrong, (and let’s face it, if you don’t want to troubleshoot problems, then racing probably isn’t for you) the less time we have to spend waiting on someone else to get us back out there chasing that fucking finish line. Thank you both for giving real content and I am so happy that you are getting away from the fantasy world that everyone else is still driving blind with their noses up Ryan Martin's ass. I actually like Ryan but the really sad part is the "405" walked away from Chief because Ryan has enough money to buy 40,000 dollar motors and buy whatever he needs to stay on top but as a fellow hvac guy for 27 years I would rather use my brain and get better myself than spending ridiculous amounts of money to say that you are the fastest. I respect what you are doing. Now this is my opinion from watching Chief back on pinks and seeing who got this shit started but just as in the real world you find out who your friends are when money is involved and my opinion is alot of street racers forgot what street means and are stuck in tv land of dumbass sheep grazing for the green!

Some advice for your first nitrous kit: Go NOS or other good kit. Read and follow the directions and recommendations. When they say to run certain jets, run them. If they tell you to pull x degrees of timing, do that. Don't get greedy. If you run bigger jets, run more timing etc the car runs faster, but you will end up with nice dime sized holes in the pistons and that's one of the better scenarios. Chief and Jackie are experienced with nitrous, as a newbie nitrous guy, the best way to go is to be conservative. That's 2 cents of advice from a dummy who went through blocks, cranks, rods, and pistons like they were candy.

We are pulling for you two. I’m from Detroit . Live pretty close to Chucky Davis. With that said you have tons of fans from here. We just want to see you two kick some ass. Hopefully you can keep every one in check on the street and on the track. No matter what business decisions you have had to make..!!

Jackie you killed it with the editing as always! Awesome hearing chief give solid advice and knowledge from experience. P.S. knowing chief loves data y’all may want to look into a crank case pressure sensor if there’s not one already. We always run them on our nitrous deals… you can log any vacuum fluctuation upon detonation so you know if you’re about to let the magic out that bad little small block 🤣😂

thank you! I think we do have one, I might have accidentally cut that out of the footage

I love the way you talked about building the headers where you can only get to one plug and that was of course the smaller cylinder compared to the other six or seven LOL we did that in dirt cars for years they used to p&g a cylinder if it was protested or if it was checked after a win I didn't realize Y'all did it on drag cars also kind of cool. I really enjoyed the way you explain things I was never a big drag racer I did do some street racing but the way you go about putting a car together is the way we used to put cars together you can't win the race if you can't finish the race if your car is broke how can you make money. I really enjoy both of y'all it just works so don't screw with something that works LOL. God bless. Keep the shiny side up. Enough said..

Hey Chief, would you consider doing a video with your Dad? Listening to all of your stories about him seems like he would be an amazing guest either in a video or maybe swapping stories in the Methshack? Just a thought. Listener now upgraded to viewer #46

That would be awesome! Talk about the Arizona bike trip again! 😂😂 bet chiefs dad still don’t eat chili

That would be the best. I think that story made that episode the best of all the chief and Shawn shows lol.

Justin. The bank to bank splitting power adjustment works with no crank snapping and stuff because of firing order. Due to firing order the additions/subtractions of power are still pretty much randomly added to the rotation. Well, not randomly but that's the best way I can describe it,. To say it a different way the "adjustments" of power get spread out over the degree of rotation-never just four in a row because those four are in the same bank or something. Click!

I remember high school auto class back in 1996. My school was down the road from a big GM plant. They donated an 84 Buick Regal, a factory built 454 and one of the very first Holley fuel injection systems. Very good hands on learning.

Let's make some bets/guesses...how long until there are turbos on Caddy Jack?🙂😉
@MidwestStreetCarsAuto2 жыл бұрын
never lol
@kick_then_shift2 жыл бұрын
Once it's out on the streets getting beat all the time by super charged and turbocharged cars it will happen. It happens to every racer. They start out nitrous swear they will never go turbo and a year or 2 later then are forced induction lol
@nolansalas50452 жыл бұрын
I think we will see Turbos on the Vet maybe but i doubt we will see them on Caddy Jack if anything it will get a blower.
@Rozza432 жыл бұрын
@Nolan Salas Possibly, nitrous just takes a lot of good tuning to not hurt stuff. Turbo cars take a fraction of the upkeep in comparison. I have very little experience with nitrous honestly, I do however have a few turbo rides. I like turbos much more...I can think of hundreds of cars that came facrory with a turbo...or turbos, I think there was one car ever that came with nitrous.
@Rozza432 жыл бұрын
I believe it was a "Saleen ford focus" that came with a small bit of nitrous on it, like 15 years ago.

When I seen that there was another video today I was like yeah buddy lol. The amount of knowledge and wisdom chief has when it comes to race cars people would pay big money to do a day of learning. So I feel extremely grateful and privileged to hear it on this videos. Jackie you knocked it out of the park again on video and editing. Stay blessed guys
