Charles Spurgeon's sermons are timeless because he preached faithfully from God's timeless Word. Thank You Lord, for this anointed servant of Yours who is with You in heaven! Thank You Lord, for Your anointed servant Pastor Gavin Childress reading these sermons! Hallelujah!

C.H. Spurgeon is great and so is Gavin Childress. European people are so easy to listen to.

I haven't listened yet to this sermon but right from the start, having been to where the site is that this happened, it struck me how they entered a land that was pretty barren and that can be quite hot. I don't know how hot it was when they passed through the Jordan, but the Jordan is cold and was colder and deeper back then and the area is hot and if you looked across the Jordan and someone said that's the promised land you would be laughed at: it's a rocky, hot desert! But pressing on a few miles you come upon a green patch out of which has sprung Jericho, high and walled and not an easy target. That must have been amazing and also scary back then, I drove the route, they walked it. But I did get into the Jordan and was baptized there afresh, and walked about the area, which was 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
