He had a #1 single in 2015 - "Love You Like That" -- but has struggled since and basically disappeared, while a string of identical (young white male heartthrobs) take turns as Music Row in Nashville spits them out faster than country fans can remember their name. In my opinion, this song is junk. The lyrics could not get more "check list" pandering and lazy. Musically, at least it's country, but that's a minimal expectation. "Love You Like That" at least had a good hook but was part of the whole bro-country meets r&b pop-country that swept country radio in 2014-18. Most people don't even remember the song, even though it went to #1 and was very popular at the time.

39 yrs old and listened to country music since I was 10. But it's gettin to be old news hearing songs about someone singing about how "country" they are. Work boots? At least wear wore out boots if you're gonna mention it in a song instead of right out the box brand new shit kickers. Maybe I'm just gettin to that age where I miss country singers like Doug Stone, Daryl Singletary and Dwight Yoakam. Miss country songs with meaning and originality behind them. But again, I'm not 22 yrs old anymore so maybe that's it
@montanaplease5 жыл бұрын
I get super tired of hearing a new country song throwing the word Hank,Willy, or Waylon in their songs. Pretty sure they do it so when someone searches those names maybe their song might come up in the search engine. Oh ya and words like Back roads, Tailgates, clay, mud ... all is just the same ol shit in songs day after day.

A lot of these haters in the comments are just jealous they don’t have nice things. Yeah a lot of the things in the song are cliché (truck, dog, in the woods, working with your hands, etc). Prety cool fingerpicking in the beginning of the song too. Pretty cool to see people still making their own firewood (even if the chainsaw looks kinda new). At least he’s not wearing skinny jeans with rhinestones in them like Florida Georgia Line on a snaptrack. Good song man and good video!

All these people doggin on how clean his shit is but you don’t have to have dirty everything. Some of us keep our shit clean so we ain’t gotta but no new ones. And hell I get my truck polished and he’ll maybe I do but after while it does get dirty and even though it gets polished doesn’t make you a city boy. Until you have read on how they lived don’t say shit y’all don’t know I clean my side by side once a week or so. Moral to this if you keep your shit clean saves you money, and you don’t have to have fucked up shit to be country. And the clothes you were don’t represent where you come from.
