This looks way better than some of the older menus that came in IMP's... I remember the old "macaroni and cheese with peas" menu from the 90's.... Omfg it was disgusting... My dog wouldn't even eat it... 😂😂😂

I still remember my first IMP.... 2011 Salmon Fillet... oh man that was bad 🤢 Mac and Cheese with peas sounds just as bad too!

@@happycanuckreviews I never had the pleasure of the salmon... I ate most of the late 80's/early 90's menus when I was in the Royal Canadian Army Cadets... Lmfao

I'm fairly certain I have had this one or might have it on my ration shelf. I have a few more MREs from 2019 to get through. Looked like a good menu though. Definitely a lot of protein in there. Eww Date Square - my enemy. Maybe I'll have to warm it up next time. Thanks for the video!

Yeah I'm really starting to hate the date squares, they seem to get drier and drier every time! I find warning it up helps a bit... but only a bit!

Huh... There's no MRE Heater included...(in USA Meals-Ready-to-Eat there is a chemical heater pouch that is water activated) Matches, Really... they expect the soldier to light a fire in the field to heat their meal. How inconvenient.
@Arivia19 ай бұрын
Many, many rations include fuel and a camping stove instead of a flameless ration heater like MREs do. In times of absolute need, rations are generally designed to be edible (but not palatable) cold and uncooked; soldiers with camping stoves or using other heating methods (for example, I believe some vehicles include boiling water for preparing rations) is the standard for ration prep across the world. Canadian IMPs are designed to have the mains boiled in a water bath over a stove, and soldiers are provided separate gear for heating water. And if need be, Canadian soldiers are provided flameless ration heaters I think, but I'm not sure on that. Even American MREs come with matches to heat water to boil.

It is a bit strange isn't it! The Canadian military does provide heaters but they are issued seperate, still quite inconvenient as now they're loose in your bag rather than all self contained in the ration. Also run the risk of it getting damaged more easily. I believe there is plans to include them within the next few years as the new style IMPs have slimmed down quite a bit in weight. They forgo most of the cardboard and the packaging is now a similar plastic bag like the USA MRE rather than the heavier paper and foil bag. Here's hoping they go through with the plans!

where do you get your imp's? and if you mix the orange sports drink and the vanilla drink mix it is kinda sorta orange creamsicle-ish.

That's a great idea, I never thought to do that - will definitely try that next time! The one in the particular video I got from my local surplus store but they unfortunately haven't gotten more in since the start of the Ukraine war as they donate their stock.
