Loved this video. I arrived in Canada almost 25 years ago from DXB and your video acted like a Time Travel machine because myself and my wife went through the exact same challenges mentioned by you in this video. If only we had a plethora of social media like KZbin and Facebook where one could find thousands of helpful videos posted by awesome couples like you, we wouldn't have faced the trials and tribulations that we did back then. We kinda learnt everything the hard way and on our own when we arrived here. I can see that a lot of hard work goes into creating such videos so thanks a lot on behalf of all the potential immigrants and also on my personal behalf for taking me back in time. Keep the videos coming, guys!

Indeed realistic feedbacks. Appreciate both of you for being brutally transparent giving true grassroot reality to whom who are aspiring to migrate this sub arctict, xenophobic country which is developed after first and second world war from devastated people from Europe. Afterwards people migrated /invited from trouble countries which are infested with civil war like Sri Lanka, Haiti, Afghanistan, Sudan and many more. In my experience and my view living here at Canada since 15 years working as senior HR position ,I can say with conviction that Canada is only for whom or who becomes happy in true sense who doesn't know true meaning of life or see no hope in their country of origin for themselves being incompetent. Unfortunately parents of India sending their talented young children to Canada to become glorified slaves for life time. Canada doesn't need intellectuals, critical thinkers or leaders in all walks of life ,country need hard working labour to run the floor of industrialized nation. So Don't be fooled ,contended and happy people of India as I am myself having betrayal feeling despite having dignified well paid position and I am returning to India for ever after staying long time of 15years. I am not pessimistic but living with our own soil giving life fulfillment.

The best thing, from what I can understand, is to migrate when you are younger. 1. You will adjust easier as you aren't used to certain set routines. If you can afford to study in Canada, atleast Masters, that is good. 2. Single people or young couples without kids will also find it difficult to adjust to the country. 3. Have realistic expectations 4. Understand that you are leaving for a better place, For me, I wish I could moved to Canada - but 1) when I was younger I did not concentrate on my studies 2) my family also had great financial problems hence I couldn't just move away.
@rsrs69592 жыл бұрын
May be, you not being able to just move away, has been a blessing in disguise. There are many who were easily able to move to Canada but they regret it (from outside may not show it because of ego but from inside they cry and regret) and wish they had not moved. Cherish the family, friends and social life you have, and be grateful for it, and always be full of gratitude to God for giving you warmth of social connections, family and friends company, social emotional support, festivities, celebration and community inclusivity. May be you are already living in the "better place", may be the grass is actually greener on your side.

@@rsrs6959 Hi, I have lived abroad for sometime and I would still like to leave. I do like certain things about India but for several reasons that I do not wish to get into right now, I have my issues with it. People who get to move to where they feel more at home are indeed lucky. I cannot say for certain why some people do not like Canada after they move, perhaps they did not do their homework enough. I do and am happy with my friends, family & social life that I have here (but not god or gods, as that is one of my main issues with here) - but there is nothing wrong in wanting more, is there? Or else no one would have ever migrated in the history of the earth! The grass is always greener is a saying - only once you experience it can you say if it is true for you are not. Sometimes you will find, that they grass is indeed greener on the other side and you were right to move.

@@countroshculla That's awesome, I respect your point of view. My pov is that: In my personal opinion and experience, Canada is overhyped. 'Reality' portrayed, is far from actuality. = In Canada summers are short (2-3 months) and sometimes no real summer but winters are Long (and VERY COLD) and for certain there is winter. Many dread winters because it is so bloody cold that the air hurts your face and during ice and snow storms the road conditions are risky, so you rather stay home unless you really need to go out. A lot of people go through winter depression, SAD Seasonal affective disorder (SAD). = Lack of real true social connections and social life due to the stress of high cost of living (rent or mortgage, insurance etc) and work life balance (people work various shifts and odd days) and the harsh brutal weather (so cold and during snow and ice storms the road conditions are so risky that you wouldn't want to take the chance of driving unless it is absolutely essential) = No home help because it is very expensive, so all work done by yourself, Iike cooking, cleaning, assembling things, laundry, shoveling snow, back yard etc. = High taxes. = Home ownership and rent is very expensive. = People who are doctors, physios and chiros and highly qualified professionals from India have to study and gain Canadian experience and certification to get job in their field. = Appointments for doc appointments, surgeries, specialist appointment take long and even the wait in emergency room is long. =There is shortage of medical staff and nurses = Marijuana has been legalized = International students pay close to triple and quadruple of what locals pay, but one should really look into the results, and check if those students are getting progressive gainful careers, and are they reaching their potential, and getting return on investment. In my personal opinion, not being negative or trying to discourage or demotivate, but sharing my honest sincere personal opinion, that if someone is in upper middle class in India, has a paid off residence (even if they don't own residence doesn't matter because housing in desired places is damn expensive in Canada, so as long as a person is living nice happy comfy life then Canada is not worth it), and has a good comfortable life in India, then above mentioned points should be taken into consideration, before deciding on moving to Canada. Many make the mistake of thinking that "all that glitters is gold, and that the grass is always greener on the other side". My advice for people in India that are already well-to-do and well settled, is that if life is good to you, then appreciate it, responsibly enjoy it and also responsibly give back and help. The saddest part is when people who are living a depressed and miserable life abroad cannot or choose not to move back to home land, because they are worried that people will see them as failure, or make fun, and criticize them, so they lie to others, and continue to live a sad life. Don't go by fake social media (people will say what will bring them money and make them look good) photos and videos, rather experience it yourself. You don't buy a car without test driving, you don't marry without getting to know your partner to see if you will be compatible, so then why move permanently to a different country without testing it out, to see if it is a good fit for you or not. The best thing to do, to try it out first, and then based on trial experience, decide on whether or not you want to move there for good. A lot of immigrants make the mistake of not trying it out first, burning all bridges, and just moving abroad right away for good. A lot of immigrants make the mistake of not trying it out first, burning all bridges (by selling everything off, severing all ties, and having no back up plan of exit and return), and just moving abroad right away for good. Sometimes it is the fear of public opinion, and being seen as failure for returning from abroad that keeps people from going back, so they continue to live miserably in Canada, passing their days like zombies, dead from inside but faking it from outside. I would advice, don't care what other people think of you, be true to yourself and live happy . I would say, they should not let the worry of what others will think of them, stop them from going back home, being true to themselves, and living where they feel truly happy and at home, because afterall, *life is short*

@@rsrs6959 I looked at your points but: =While the winters are really cold, they do have proper 4 seasons. THe rest of the year is usually very beautiful. I will take that over humid heat and mosquitoes. = No home help because it is very expensive, so all work done by yourself, Iike cooking, cleaning, assembling things, laundry, shoveling snow, back yard etc. - Yeah, we are spoiled here because we pay maids/servants a lot less due to the difference in living conditions. India has a lot of poor people who are willing to work for 2-5k a month, cleaning your house, cooking etc. That is not there is most western countries. = High taxes. - True but you get to see where those taxes go to. Here to put your kid in kindergarten itself, you have to pay a king's ransom. And then it continues until they graduate. While umpteen politicians get to EAT that money we pay in taxes in INdia = Home ownership and rent is very expensive. It's not that easy in India anymore. Luckily, my home was bought a while ago. = People who are doctors, physios and chiros and highly qualified professionals from India have to study and gain Canadian experience and certification to get job in their field. Very true. But each country has their standards which they are not willing to bend for anyone. If you want to practise in that country, they need to be sure you can do the job. It's like that for most Western countries. = Appointments for doc appointments, surgeries, specialist appointment take long and even the wait in emergency room is long. =There is shortage of medical staff and nurses - Which they are trying to address by making it easier to bring in professionals from other countries. However there is a standard that every country wants to maintain. And you don't go bankrupt paying those hefty bills. I was in hospital for 5 days due to an issue that is still ongoing and they didn't actually treat me completely. Rs.30000 which is more than half my monthly pay! = Marijuana has been legalized - Yes and I wish more countries would follow this. This is not a negative. Marijuana has got a lot of medical qualities as well. I have friends who are battling illness like cancer and they use medical marijuana from pharmacies to ease the pain. Sorry, dude but marijuana isn't a big deal. It's the mindset. = International students pay close to triple and quadruple of what locals pay, but one should really look into the results, and check if those students are getting progressive gainful careers, and are they reaching their potential, and getting return on investment. - Ofcourse. You are a foreigner! You have to pay more. Although there are some colleges that charge you less. You will have to pay a lot more than locals do. This is how it has always been. No surprise there.

What kind of a salary package is enough for a family of 4 to survive and thrive if there is only 1 earning member? Secondly when does one starts getting the child benefits if moving to Canada with infants without pr? Lastly is it really worth it to leave a life of convenience and luxury behind to get involved in this struggle?

The boxed credit system here is really sad. I moved with near quarter mil from USA and it all means nothing, I have 790 credit score in USA banks lining up to give me loans and here I have to apply for Secured CC to start building credit from 0 while travelling in buses. Also the work culture is relation based then actually getting work done as result there is less value of talent and hard-work but more of smooth talkers but even then I'm paying forex each month quietly and counting days to 3 years to wipe the Indian passport off my head.

Shilpa, your channel is the best! Very inspirational too. May I ask you a question? I will really appreciate it if you could help me with this. My study permit and the sticker on my Passport is expiring within a week. I applied for PGWP back in March and I know that it's going to take a few months. In the meantime, my mother is very sick in India (she had covid last year and still having complications, I have medical proof) and I need to visit her urgently within the next couple of weeks. I was wondering if I can apply for a Canadian visitor visa from within Canada and go to India. IRCC website says it's a really fast process, like 11 days. However, it is not clear to me if I CAN apply for a visitor visa while my PGWP is pending and my visa sticker has expired. TIA!!

In short , canada is just over hyped. Australia is much better in each and every term. and the best option is doing high paying job in india itself and visiting abroad countries for travel once a year. Only real benefit of canada is canadian citizenship and earning in dollars and sending that money in india and enjoying a luxurious life in india after a few years of earnings in canada

I do perfectly opposite I keep visiting india as India is beautiful and has more variety in landscapes and culture and food. Luxurious life in India ? Where in Andheri ? Where you can spend 1 hour to cross 5 Kms ? Australia is has toooo less population and its boring and with lots of bugs, spiders amd snakes 😅

@@prashantdhotre Australia im saying in terms of weather as we indians are used to summers but in canada 8 months cold snow only , in australia u can enjoy beaches and outdoor activities all year around and earnings are better than canada... In abroad u can earn better than india but still cant have a luxurious life as u have to do everything on ur own no servants or maid culture plus expenses are also more so saving is minimal but in india u will save huge money if u earn in dollars and spend in ruppees.

@@puneet1584 maid are servants are available in india due to poverty and population if they ll charge you with basic wage no body can’t afford paying 15-25k They are just availablefor 2-5K thats why ppl are having ‘luxurious life ‘. I dont swe any luxury in that having servants I lived in UK Singapore and now in canada I am used to do all household my self Cleaning to weekend pe hoti hai yaha pe itni dust bhi nahi hai so its adjustable And salaries are almost similar to Australia because I had offer from Australia 2 years ago but Australia has lots of racism issues I heard and canada I found better as its most ppl are immigrants so less racism here.
