Baba Bhulley Shah an early 18th century poet was a mystic Sufi saint of his time. He was successful in clearing some misunderstanding with his Murshid (spiritual mentor) and finally received a message that he will be hosting his Murshid / Peer at his home. With the excitement of this news Bhulley Shah wrote this masterpiece. Sikhs have included his poetry in their holy books. Indian cinema (Bollywood) has used these particular lyrics for their own purpose. Bhulley Shah was a mystic saint and wanted to bring communities together and as a result was misunderstood by the Mullahs of his hometown of Kasur, Pakistan. At his death in 1757 the Muslim clergies refused to offer his funeral prayers until a venerated Syed Saint (Zahid Hamdani) took the matters in his hands and lead his funeral prayer. Every week while going to the farm I pass by his Shrine and find myself smitten with his memory and particularly the power of this qawali beautifully sung by Ustad Nusrat sahib.
