Hi, I am a refugee, who's referred for resettlement in Canada by UNHCR. I have already been through biometrics and medical examination by IOM. Received a letter by IRCC regarding Pre-Arrival Services. When I checked today at IRCC website for estimated time period for Government Assisted Refugees Program, it shows 31 months in the country where I am currently hiding. My question, does it really take so long?

Generally speaking if your refugee application is accepted in that country you may not move to Canada as a refugee. However, if it is not then contact UNHCR for resettlement to Canada.

Generally speaking, a person who files for refugee is because they have a fear of going back to their home country. Therefore, if they go back to their home country, they could lose their PR as it shows that fear does not exist anymore.
