Okay, I grew up in NB and here is my take on what defines the East Coast as separate in stereotypes: Nova Scotia: lighthouses, Scottish people, oatcakes, blueberries, sailing, New Brunswick but cooler and less poor (and not French) New Brunswick: sea food, acadians, loyalists, so many trees, ticks, poor, fiddleheads, the prettiest province (fight me!) PEI: potatoes, cows (the company), the sea dirt, Anne of Green Gables, tourists and like 50 locals, potatoes Newfoundland & Labrador: vikings, colourful houses, shit weather, funny accents, lively despite sad weather And we’re all way too nice and our gatherings ALWAYS take place in the kitchen

It's disgusting to see someone who wants to teach others about Canada be so uncaring as to not afford the Atlantic provinces any individuality what so ever. While it would be correct in saying that we tend to have similar stereotypes due to not being as geographically large as other provinces, it would have been nice to have at least A factoid that gave each province a little distinction. Quebec wasn't the only province to want independence, most eastern provinces did not want to be part of the confederation (prefering to have their own governor and dealing direclty with Britain rather than having to get along with the others). The only reason the confederation hapenned is because the political class was made of businessmen who needed a cross continental railway to ship the goods from their factories from one coast to the other... If you think about it, having a single goverment in charge of such a large territory is not ideal! xD

I just bought The Penguin History of Canada by Kenneth McNaught from a thrift store for one euro. "Canada possesses a history rich in incident and personality, and in this classic, definitive work Professor McNaught traces that history from the earliest expeditions, in search of fish and fur, to the twentieth century." Sounds riveting.

I’d like to see you make a video on various Canadian regional accents, especially the “funny accents” to which you referred in the eastern provinces. Also, maybe more about the territories. Here in the USA we also have territories, but they’re mostly called that just because they’re also semi-independent countries. Are the Canadian territories considered countries? What makes them different than provinces, politically speaking?
@mapofthesoultagme71433 жыл бұрын
The territories are politically the same as provinces in all important ways other than the name. Unlike provincial governments, territorial governments receive about 70 percent of their budget revenue from Ottawa. Bad statistics for human civilizations, like per-capita prison population, drugs, suicide are vastly higher in the North aka territories than anywhere else in Canada, to the point where they are often excluded from national statistics to avoid warping the average. None of the territories or provinces are considered countries at all.

As someone from Ontario, I'd heavily disagree with the "rivalry" stereotype, since, I've been to BC, it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen on this earth, with some of the nicest people, and the most interesting culture, you guys are awesome and I don't think any part of Canada is better than any other part, Ontario may be my home, but I don't think it's "better" than BC, it's just different. Basically, if there's a rivalry, it's a heavily one sided one where one side doesn't even hate the other.

@@CosmicGloom It’s more that you don’t acknowledge our federal complaints from the West at all, and generally ignore us. If it’s good for you out East, that’s national policy, even if it kills our livelihoods out in the West. Policies like the carbon tax, the halting of the pipelines, and other such bullshit causes great harm out here(CT is expensive when the only possible method of transport through half your province is with a truck!) and our complaints are entirely silenced. That’s why the West has a rivalry with the East, even if you don’t realize it’s there.
