Most likely, if Canadian MLS teams join the CanPL, the salary cap will have to be restructured. The total purple of an average CanPL team is comparable to a standard MLS TAM contract.

If both leagues want to make the most money, the only choice is joining together to form a relegation/promotion system. This would force a massive expansion campaign in the CPL, and board rich people will definitely eat up the chance to own a “soccer” team from their city, state, or province.

So what would happen if a canadian team wins both competitions? Both winners go to the champions league right? So if one team won both, there would be an open spot Who does it go to? The runner up in the MLS or the runner up in the canadian cup?

Interesting question, until now this hasn't been relevant because this is the first season where Canada has more than one Champions League berth (CPL used to have no berths but after a rework of the Champions League format it now gets 2). I'm not sure but I think that if an MLS club wins the cup then they can't qualify through MLS and their spot would be allocated to another club, however if a CPL club were to win both then I have no idea whether the spot would be allocated to the cup runner up or another CPL club (although my guess it would go via the cup).

If they join to the canadian prem it would turn into a farmers league like league 1. the canadian prem is already a farmers league bc of forge that won almost every edition but at least the level of the teams is balanced, the other teams have the oportunity to won the league.

Some of the welsh clubs play in the english leagues and used to play in the Welsh Cup until they got banned by UEFA. Canadian clubs are like that, but not banned from competing in their domestic championship.

Because we actually never had a 1st division professional league. It's very new, only 5 years old. So for now it's only 8 teams. But the Canadian Premier League is already looking at expansion.
