I think we DID see the first Canada goal... just after 1:50 (if you slow it down to 0.25 speed) Ritchie shoots, the puck seems to graze the post, THEN hits the vertical bar INSIDE the net and then exits. So it's likely they reviewed that and gave them the goal, which is why the score suddenly jumped to 1-1.

If the game was refereed fairly, it would have been no contest. The penalties were 8 to 2 in favour of Czechia and the refs did everything in their power to make Canada lose. They didn’t call the same infractions on the Czechs. A power play with 5 minutes to go tied the game and seconds before Canada’s penalty, the Czechs tripped a Canadian player without a call. Then in overtime, the Czechs got another power play. There were some other phantom calls. I believe the referees were from the Czech and Slovak area.
@aposthole522610 ай бұрын
@@RandallK1968NS Canada beat the refs and Czechia. Even the announcers said, the refs were wearing Czechian uniforms. In a final you need fair refereeing and this wasn’t the case today. I recall one other game where the refereeing was ridiculous. Not sure if you recall the women’s Olympic hockey final between Canada and the US. The calls were in favour of the US 11 to 1. Even Wickenheiser commented while crying that the refereeing was a disgrace.
@RandallK1968NS10 ай бұрын
@aposthole5226 is not my point.. FYI, I'm glad Canada won. They were the better team. Stop blaming the refs for outcomes of the game.
@aposthole522610 ай бұрын
@@RandallK1968NS Are you saying that no team has ever lost because of bad refereeing? To win a badly refereed game, the team needs to be super good and Canada was. The Czecks could have scored in OT and won the game. A few years ago there was a senior WHC game between Canada & Finland where the refereeing was under par. Canada lost because they weren’t good enough to beat the refs. The outcome should have been decided by talent and a bit of luck not the refs.

@ondra_vro10 ай бұрын
The Czechia goal was good one. They call back good goal. „They were on side of Czechia.” Good joke. The goal take back is biggest mistake coming well for side of Canada. In some situations referee was on your side in some on Czechia side. Wouldnt call it referee was on side of Czechia. In the regular time it was 3-2 Czechia. Be happy that it is like that.

Why would you not include Canada's first goal in the "Full Highlights"??
@resabape10 ай бұрын
Glad to see the boys step it up especially in the O/T. There are a couple of things that continue to grind my gears in Canadian hockey development and they have to do with handling the puck/puck management. European players seem to have been trained better in this area. I see this in the faceoff circle where we lose the draws. I see this along the boards where a Euro player will win the puck despite being up against 2 or more Canadian players. The Euros are also better at handling pucks that are airborne. Their first goal was a conversion of a bouncing puck. We win despite these shortcomings but I would like to see hockey development improved to put us on a par with this skill.

Tremendous game, all I could have hoped for. Mews looks good but sometimes makes some questionable decisions. He had a nice sliding block but also left a guy unchecked in front of the net and made a very poor pass in OT instead of making the obvious pass to Catton for a 2-on-1. Parekh is a great breakout passer, really good at observing the ice and finding a good player to pass to. Poirier with some good junk yard dog digging in front of the net to loosen the puck for the Catton goal. Catton showed why he is ranked so highly, he consistently creates offense and out thinks his opponents. His struggles with physical play are an issue though, he looked a bit like he was playing with older players with how easily he was pushed around. Lindstrom's skating is impressive. I didn't notice Masse much out there, I'm wondering if he got benched. He looked at home being a trigger guy around the slot earlier in the tournament. Spence played smart while also being aggressive and physical.
