I remember seeing this years ago: at that time the aircraft had radial engines but it was an impressive sight... And who doesn't love the sound of a big radial???

What's old is new again. Few people know that as locomotives got bigger and faster, they would use this type of system to scoop up water into their tender cars from water troughs between the tracks. They could fill up their tank without stopping.
