Funny comments. I joined in 1986, basic was twice as long and no human rights. Joined with over 300 in my platoon, graduating class was less than 200. I was YTEP, and served 23 years. I would do it all again. I’m broken, PTSD ridden, but when I die I have a life to relive that’s at least as good as any movie. I’ve stood with giants, and walked the history, most just read. Live as a sheep dog and suffer for your pack, or be a sheep? It’s a very rewarding life, if you have the stuff. Believe me if you can succeed in this profession, it will change your life. You will be a better person. Just be prepared, it comes at a cost, but that’s what separates a veteran, from a civilian. I put faces to names and call them brother on Remembrance Day. But like I said, at 60 I would do it all again. A hard life, worth living.

@DR-fc1ey3 ай бұрын
@@kyrofred9669 stress positions are key and the most common, you will do alot of those but with that, it's something that regardless if you train or not you are going to suffer. But the better you get at it the less you suffer. For me, before BMQ I could hardly hold a plank for 2 minutes, after BMQ I could go a solid 3:30 or 4 mins, then at the end of my DP1 (which was 5 months) I was holding a perfect plank for 14 minuets, But all in all there isn't any real way to prepare for BMQ the best thing you can do is learn to take everything as it is and remember that they are trying to stress you out and to not take things personally as their priority is to help condition you to be able to work effectively and be in a team in a high stress environment. they also expect you to fuck up and you will fuck up, they only care to see how you will manage yourself after fucking up and if you try and correct it. You'll learn and hear this saying alot "it's all part of the game" Overall I'd say the biggest thing you can do to prepare yourself is to get in the mindset and mentally prepare. Because it won't matter if you can do 300 push-ups in a row or just 10 push-ups in a row, they are always going to just make you go on till you fail and when your body fails, like you cannot physcally push yourself up anymore, when you get to that point the only thing they want to see is you keep trying hard to push yourself up even though you can't, and keep doing so till they tell you to stop. As my final note, keep in shape, run lots as the ideal run is doing a 10km run in 45 mins (ideally to keep a consistent 4:30 pace and to never stop. If you have to slow that's fine but practice never stopping) Stress positions, if you can hold a plank or wall sit for 5 minutes you're golden. Mentally prepare don't doubt yourself, you will surprise yourself and do alot better than you think, when you got the time to have fun seriously just try to relax and have fun, take it seriously and support your fellow troops because if one person fails at something it's because you all failed to support each other, so if your fireteam partner is just awful at everything and kinda useless, just be prepared to pick up the slack. As for me, I was so anxious that I was going to fail basic training cause my fitness wasn't very good... I ended up making it through and realized I was capable of alot more than I thought, then I became even more anxious about my combat engineer DP1 after being told it's seen as thee most difficult trade qualification courses, as it's just you getting fucked into the dirt 24/7... at BMQ we would get smoked for like 15 or maybe 30 minuets at most and that was tough for me, but then on my DP1 we were getting smoked for 3 or 4 hours at a time without stopping and at a much higher intensity, by the end of these beastings i would get so pumped up with adrenaline that I would be angry ANGRY screaming out loud, on the verge of vomiting, feeling like I'm gonna pass out, my whole body shaking, drenched in sweat, feeling very angry, my face turning red from me trying so hard to do just one last pushup or hold a plank for just 30 seconds more. We did that so often and it was so fucking miserable but I survived every single time and by the end of it I felt so damn confident in my self that we all were begging to get smoked as we learned to enjoy the pain. One last time YOU ARE CAPABLE OF SO MUCH FUCKING MORE THAN YOU THINK, all you gotta do is just never quit. (Sorry for the ramble and jumbled mess, hope this helps put you at a little ease, you got this)

It's great to see another video of BMQ. However, the standards seem so incredibly low to join that operational effectiveness is definitely low as well.
@andrewf95572 ай бұрын
Operational effectiveness has been trash for decades. They're only doing this stuff now because NATO is sick of carrying the slack. Without NATO and the USA, Canada is weak and practically defenseless. Easy pickings for just about any average developed military.
@gerwyntiberius19182 ай бұрын
Are standards still decreasing across the board for basic training and physical requirements? We still using ww2 era equipment and have to buy our own helmets and ammo if sent overseas?
@TheDeadPoolfan2 ай бұрын
I don't think we've ever had to buy our own ammo or helmets. We just got rid of the browning 9mm, which some were stamped in the 40s. Standards are lower every year

Honestly ever since joining I think those are all just rumors
@chrisburke6242 ай бұрын
We've never had to buy our own ammo or helmets, ffs... We did get to buy our own chest rigs prior to deploying, and were reimbursed by our unit. (I deployed 06 and 2010) The Browning 9mm is now officially done, finally replaced by the new service pistol. And not a moment too soon. (That was the only WW2 era weapon still on the books) Now if we can just do something about that raging piece of s**t called an LSVW...

Hey CAF, instead of spamming recruiting ads maybe consider fixing the actual recruiting process by getting rid of the rampant administrative bloat and incompetence? In the USA, they can get you from enlisting in a mall to bootcamp in TWO WEEKS, not TWO YEARS. This is NOT NORMAL. I know for a fact that you get LOTS of applications to enlist, but the applicants simply get tired from getting ghosted for months if not years, and turned off by the unreasonable expectation to put their entire life on hold during all this time.

that is not a fact at all. non citizens have wait times upwards of 2 years just to get through enrollment. for some it's not even possible due to bad relations between intelligence communities and gov entities. meanwhile the avg Canadian citizen with no travel record in the past 5 years and no family abroad can get through in as little as a few months. citizens quite literally have the fast pass to enrollment as long as you meet those requirements.

@CanadianForcescanadiennesАй бұрын
Hi there, Thanks for your interest! When joining the Primary Reserve Force (part-time employment), you sign up with a Regiment (which is an individual Reserve unit attached to an element) for a given trade. You would complete your training in the Reserves in a similar manner to the Regular Force, but outside of training you would be located in that specific Reserve unit, and never be obligated to be posted (relocated) to a different base or do tours of duty. Typically in the Reserves you work one night per week and some weekends, but likely not more than 12 days in any calendar month. While there is no set contract of service, the expectation for each Reserve member is to stay in long enough to reach a fully-trained status, and then contribute on a month-to-month basis for as long as desired. Checkout our eligibility requirements and apply online: forces.ca/en/apply-now/ You can view pay and benefit information here: forces.ca/en/life-in-the-military/#bt You can find your local reserve unit by visiting: forces.ca/en/find-a-recruiting-centre/#/
