Oh my ,, so BIG FUN to see this early video of your newly purchased "camper". It is really just perfect IMO. I am so glad you never painted the woodwork. Painting wood is mistake .. paint does not hold up, especially kitchen cupboards. Love the jackknife couch popout. Yes, a bit tight by the bathroom, even so, really very nice :) I live in NYS .. would love to drive to Nova Scotia but let my passport run out and my corolla sedan not great for sleeping while road tripping; I am more than a little raggedy these days anyway, so am extra glad I can watch a lot of great doings from here via youtube. When blocking the trailer for stability put you concrete blocks with the cores in a vertical position for maximum strength. Also use treated wood blocking & wood wedges made from Oak.
@duffman12415 жыл бұрын
Those blocks have a 1100 psi strength there is no way that trailer could cause that load you do realize that these are used in basements holding against dirt and frost and I have never herd of treated oak also oak will rot out before pine

Red Oak ships From Norway and Finland are still afloat after 400 years. Yes....400 years. I toured them at the Festival of the Sea while active duty U.S.N. It's the only wood that has that "special oil".
@duffman12415 жыл бұрын
Jon Koza if these ships were to dry the wood would crack but if they keep them soaked the wood holds up well. Oak rots when it cracks and water gets in the cracks. Lots of boats use oak for the main frame and some do use it for planks too but if you let them dry other woods are far more superior. If she used cedar there would be no worries of bugs eating the wood

Food for thought you can use foam block insulation for a skirting around your trailer keep the cold air from traveling under your trailer! Use aluminum tape to tape it together! And if you dont keep heat in that trailer this winter it could damage the trailer as a whole with mildew mold or dry rot! The fire place donot make really hot fires in it and you need to protect the area were the pipe roams all areas even the side of the stove so heat will ignite a fire if your not carefull ! Be carefull and ventilate even in the winter! Fresh air creates warmer air ! Allways remember that plus you dont want to suffocate either! So allways crack a window about and inch on both ends of the trailer to cross ventilate ! Another thing all cupboards in trailers lack ventilation make ventalation for them so mold mildew dont grow ! You can use baking soda boxes and activated charcoal to absorb bad odors! Then those moister things you can bye at the dollors store or Walmart work really well for grabing moister! Trust me im a lifer on rving in the north! If you have a rubber roof clean it and treat it before! winter allways a good idea ! Never cover the whole trailer ever ! just the roof and it needs to be able to breath also but keep it dry ! Hope this all helps, if you dont heat use all the things i says to use and open all cubbord doors and refrigerator if either way if you do or not stay in it in the winter if it snows you have to get that snow off the roof! Snow is heavy ! Specially when it melts!
@gypsyjenna5 жыл бұрын

Greetings from BC! My wife and i and 2 cats have lived in a similar, slightly smaller and older trailer to yours. We live on 20 acres in a forest at 3.500 feet above sea level. We are coming into our 3rd winter now. The coldest we have had is -30C, we have no wood stove on the trailer bit I built a 8' x 8'0" plywood annexe on the rear trailer and put a woodstove in there. When it gets real cold we light the stove and slide open our bedroom window to let the heat come in. Great jib with interior planning for space, ours is not as good as that. Best Wishes, Chris.

Try a oxegen shower head 32 bucks Walmart, and white cabinets, keep the mirrors on them like you said makes it look bigger, and white will make ceiling look higher too. Saves water and gives pressure, and throw on one of those blue exterior water filters. And there is a little pump like 6 bucks attach 2 hoses and drill and you can pump water into fresh water tank as well. Absolutely love your trailer and your work ethic. Looking forward to your next vid. I am Canadian, we got a 17 foot trailer for the 2 of us to escape our adult kids living with us. It is set up for boondocking, the trailer parks have gotten unreal in price, In Moncton it was 80 bucks for a night, we went to Walmart. lol

You are so welcome. There are many videos on trailer gadgets and also there is this add room shower curtain rod, we got one, and have not installed it yet, but in theory it looks pretty cool. We have a too big of a house for just the two of us, but with the adult kids and 1 full time grandson, it is fine. But we want desperately to downsize, this trailer journey has taught me so much. Our 17 foot trailer be too small for full time. Ideally we would like to stay in Canada for spring summer and fall, then winter in Florida. But I love your trailer, my sister has our parents home, and she cant financially run it, I am, but we cant do this much longer, so what you have would be great for my sister. Absolutely great work.

I think you live pretty well, Ms. Jenna. I grew up in a truck camper family, 4 of us in a truck camper on rainy days. Lots of card games and Scrabble. We had to get ice every two days or less to keep any food in the ice box cold. I'm not complaining. Someday I may have to trade my brick home in for a trailer and live like you. I watched your video to see if you could give me any ideas. I've never seen a wood stove in a camper before. Be careful you don't asphyxiate yourself when using that. A wood stove will use up oxygen quickly if you don't have air coming in from a vent or vented window. Good video!

Viewed fr. Manitoba here. Nice setting for your trailer and I thought the cover for the generator was a smart idea-thanks & good luck for the winter thats coming.
