Canadian farmers demand relief from price on carbon imposed by federal government

In Canada, farmers are feeling the pinch of the federally imposed "carbon tax," which is designed to reduce the country's emissions.
The tax, which puts a price on pollution, is expected to contribute to one-third of Canada's emissions reductions by 2030.
However, farmers argue that it is hurting their industry by adding unnecessary strain and increasing fuel costs.

They already get provincial tax breaks in Alberta on diesel and fuels. and no carbon tax. As to grain drying and the costs to heat their shops. There has always been a struggle on the farm as to when they should work in their shops and harvest their grain to minimize these costs. Also the grain companies quite often negotiate pricing with the farmers for grain that is "dried" in reality and book dried by buying a combination or dry and moister grains.

they do have exemption on a number of fuels but propane is not one of them and that is what they use for grain drying and it is what is costing them the carbon tax and it would be expensive for them to go to one of the exempt fuels as those fuels cost more and so does the drying equipment. it would be better to just go electric grain dryers.

BRICS are openly challenging the western exchanges for marketshare.Canada and Australia may find this new reality difficult. I believe it was the Bank of Canada that pointed out that carbon pricing had a minimal effect on pricing (0.15% onto inflation.) The problem is a lot of companies are using the carbon pricing as an excuse to jack up prices. Which is why they are seeing record profits. Edit: the problem is getting rid of the carbon tax is not going to stop companies from this price gouging practice.

While I was tutoring a 4th year business student in 2000, there was already Economic papers written on a direct correlation between high gas prices and economic depressions. How is it that you have so many people in government with NO REAL EDUCATION or KNOWLEDGEABLE EXPERIENCE in business or reality? Just wondering who you have giving you advice when you make these ridiculous decisions.
