You’re right about should’ve never voted liberal, but you’re wrong about the capital gains. Personally, if you’re not gonna live in the house yourself personally for more than three years I 50% capital gain you. If you don’t understand how the market works and that institutional investing is a big problem in the bedroom community, and I stand clear on the bedroom, community and affordability. then you don’t understand economics i’ve seen it firsthand repeatedly people making way too much money way too quick and incentivized to keep doing it and eventually propping up the price of homes where nobody can afford it anymore. And these are all short term game people notice how I said you shouldn’t pay capital gains after say three or four years of living in the dwelling and proving that you’ve lived there yeah for years not just one year maybe even five years

@@RowdyLpx You’re not very bright. These people you shit on pay the highest wages and taxes and make Canada a top 10 economy. These businesses are also not exclusive to Canada with operations in otherwise countries. You act as if they were to leave, you’d be better off. What’s your contribution in creating wealth? @@bernl178 It’s simple. It’s supply and demand. You can’t build a house for, under $500,000 and that’s if you do,it yourself. We have so many restrictions on building, permits, supplies etc…and now green influenced building from the feds to make it slower and more expensive. The ONLY people this affects are the middle, class and under. None of this effects wealthy people. We’ve been fed lies about construction and land use with lies and environmental fear mongering.. Canadians feel this bizarre entitlement to Toronto Vancouver Montreal downtown housing on minimum wage…that hasn’t ever been true EVER. you can do the math and explain what $17.20 hour gets you in a mortgage….or 35776 a year that’s a mortgage of 170,000 PLEASE

In these uncertain times, it's more important than ever to have a solid understanding of how to manage your finances, invest wisely and navigate economic downturns. But my primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $240k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings are lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains everyday, I need a remedy.

The Federal government has messed around with the capital gain inclusion rate in the past, increasing it to 75% and they ended up returning it to the 50% level. The capital is just sitting there breeding more money. That’s why our dollar is in the toilet, rich people hoard it and then it just starts increasing. We have too many people employed in government political positions in this country. It is going to stagnant the future growth and future development . Who wants to invest in a country where taxation is high and has no reward in helping anything or anyone except political positions of power. If prime Minister of Canada has increased his personal wealth of 10 million to over 150 million just by being in office. Well then, it sure looks and sounds like corruption. I bet if you followed the members of the senate, you would probably find the same equation. Meanwhile, the citizens of the country pay and suffer the consequences. It matters not how they spin it. Bottom line if you buy a house it’s to live in it and to raise a family. If your intentions are to make $100,000 in one year on that house and that’s your only intention yeah I would tax you 50% capital gains because this is what’s happening and this is the problem and corporate Canada is sneaky and not telling you the whole deal here. What you’re listening to up top here on this report are greedy people that are saying oh my God I can’t make 100,000 a year off you trying to have a life in your home. Most Canadians buy a home to live in. A few Canadians and corporate Canada buy homes to flip and make 100,000 a year on them if I was prices go up at the rate they’re going now nobody will be able to afford it so you gotta put the brakes on the flipping and selling and I guess that’s one way of doing it choose your house wisely and stay in for at least three years. Then I wouldn’t call you out as a Canadian and say you bought it as an investment tool to flip and make 100,000 fast. Nothing gives you a faster rate of return right now then real estate and why do you think that happened because corporate Canada turned it into a money wheel and it’s screwing all of us that’s good arguments, both sides

I highly doubt the rich will be affected.. they have all sorts of ways to avoid taxes. It is the middle class people who are paying them all and suffering.

@@chendavid9582 Capital gains IS one of the ways the rich avoid taxes. This is targeting capitalists and the investor class with enough money to buy and trade in stocks. The UPPER middle class might have a LITTLE invested in the stock market, but this is a tax directly targeting the wealthy. That's why billionaires that own media companies want to trick you into thinking you the ones being targeted

Ya, why should people who work hard and take risks get ahead in Canada anyways. How dare they try to make a better life for their families and basically everyone else they're associated with. We want people on social services in this country, those hard workers should just move away

I vote NDP, loved Mulcair: believed in balanced budgets. Not sure what the Liberals are doing here. Capital gains should be lowered or eliminated, not increased. We need more Canadians to be able to invest, and to buy raw land, not less of us. Canadians know their neighborhoods, have a feel for real estate and local business opportunities. Promote this, don't punish it! Mulroney and then Harper got it right on this one: the GST -- this is the best way to raise revenues in a consumer-driven economy. Attacking capital gains and even most incomes is no way to grow the future. Put the GST up to a nice round number -- 10% is the obvious number -- and lower, not raise, capital gains and even some income taxes. Teach Canadians how to invest, how to use those Tax free savings accounts. Help them to become independent, not this. We can be both wisely socialist and aggressively capitalist. Others do it, we have done it ourselves. Balance.

I wish NDP voters would speak up loud. We have this current government because of the coalition. Lib's spend like bandits on their own. Now they spend even more to maintain and appease the NDP. The NDP could help save Canada from this spiral but they won't. Its the closest they've been to having some power. They've become the tail that wags the dog and its comfortable. But its not very comfortable for Canadians. :(

Business is going away. Many businesses are international and just shift their business to other countries. This govt is out of touch with the portrayal of business as evil, when they are desperate for their money.

That’s not even the point lol this also affects the middle class. This isn’t a situation where rich people make x amount of money so it’s OK to take some more. This is a situation where no matter how hard you work in this country and how smart you are with your investments the government will take most of your gains.

@@clout13r again THATS NOT THE POINT. This affects regular everyday people that invest in the open market not just the millionaires and billionaires. I don’t know where you’re getting that random $50 number from but it’s gonna be way more than $50 if let’s say an every day average worker invest wisely and does very well on his investments. He’ll still have to pay more in taxes and he won’t be able to keep as much of his profits that he should rightfully get.

Wealthy people are sitting on capital, they don't get a salary. High salaries are people with important skills and productivity and Canada is already losing these people that move to US and other countries. The solution is to increase productivity and investments - increasing the living standard.

Wage increase? When the "rich" as you call it leave they take the jobs with them. Anyone can become rich but its a hell of a lot harder if you make investing difficult.

"Fairness" is code for theft. Taxing income is one thing but think about it. Capital gains from assets like real estate largely amounts to taxing inflation. It's not even real income. Say goodbye to investors- they will build somewhere else.
