Its funny how we allow the banks to have s monopoly, we back their mortgages, and if we ask them to treat us fairly they laugh in our faces. The entire fucking system is rigged against us.

Money laundering is rampant. How do you explain the multi-million dollar prices of homes in Markham and Richmond Hill? Money, illicit money, brought in by the Asian immigrants.

It's not a difficult decision at all. A significant portion of Canada's economy and federal revenue is dependent on our domestic automotive industry. The only reason these vehicles are $10,000 is because they are being sold below the cost of production in the west - it's called dumping and is illegal. If you were foolish enough to buy a chinese EV then what you will find out quickly is that they will break down frequently and repairs (now that you own the vehicle) will cost more than the new vehicle. China's strategy is they same as printer manufacturers who sold their inkjet printers below cost because they made an enormous profit on in cartridges. But if the economic reasons don't convince you then consider human rights violations (Uyghur genocide), military aggression towards all of the neighbours, the use of North Korean slaves, child labour in their african mines, illegal trade practices, global environment destruction (China produces more carbon (13 trililion tonnes) than all the g20 nations combined from their 3000+ coal fired generating stations which increases annually by the same amount of carbon that Canada produces annually (500 billion tonnes per year))

Stability in Financial Markets: Money laundering, despite its illegal nature, can contribute to a semblance of stability in financial markets. In some cases, illicit funds from illegal activities like drug trafficking or corruption are injected into legitimate businesses or investments, which can artificially prop up asset prices or stimulate economic activity. This injection of "dirty money" can sometimes provide a buffer against economic downturns or market volatility, especially in sectors such as real estate or luxury goods. Without this influx of illicit funds, certain industries may experience destabilization, leading to fluctuations that could adversely affect overall economic stability.

The banks are handing out GIC's at 5.5% for a year. They wouldn't be offering that if they thought rates were going to come down anytime soon. This interest rate is the new normal, or higher. You would also have to keep the house you bought for ten years or will be paying extreme penalties if you sell before renewal.

increasing in rate resuliting to high inflation The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience.If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.

Keeping money in the bank is like paying banks and the Govemment. Here's how it works: The bank gives out your money as loan, and charge interest obviously higher than inflation rate, and then give you, the depositor, interest lower than inflation rate. That means net loss for you. That is why I prefer to invest, and on average, my advisor makes returns that always beats inflation!

I'm confused... Invest in what in Canada? There is absolutely no innovation in this country. Canada has not at all been business friendly for almost a decade. The only dominant assets here are the big banks. Our economy is dead in the water, we have a major housing crisis, our taxes are far too high and our population is quite broke. The ROI in US and international markets is much higher even on bad days. IF Canadian leadership at all levels pivot now and implement business & innovation friendly policies such as the US, perhaps this conversation about investing more in TSX can be rehashed a 100 years from now... because thats how long its likely going to take to turn ourselves around from the current situation.

When the US buyer imports goods subject to tariffs from China, they pay the tariff to the US government. This cost and any markup are typically passed on to the end consumer, meaning consumers ultimately bear the burden of tariffs through higher prices. The Chinese seller, however, does not directly pay the tariff; the importer in the US bears that responsibility. China does not suffer the consequences of tariffs. The US consumers are being punished by having to pay higher prices.

Canada is backwards compared to the USA when it comes to mortgage fixed rates. That being said, it’s the governments fault for why homes are so expensive. Poor policy choices and unrestrictive government spending causing a doubling of the money supply in two years. Allowing 5% downpayment and CHMC insurance is a mistake, it causes inflationary pressure by increasing demand.

Canada doesn’t have a housing crisis. Only desirable areas like Vancouver and Toronto are expensive. Canada is full of affordable cities that people have overlooked. Winnipeg is still very affordable compared to Vancouver. You can still buy a brand new 3 bedroom 2 bathroom townhome for under 500k. Leaves you plenty of money for a nice SUV for the cold winters.
@zinithin-8208
@zinithin-8208 6 сағат бұрын
False, this used to be the case. The contagion spread to everywhere. Small rural towns have new homes listed for a million loonies now. 500k at 7% interest is really high for housing costs, considering that homes a decade ago were half or even less than that at a lower interest rate. 500k is not affordable for two people at a median Canadian wage.
