The full version - which is often chanted as a school-prayer in India. 0. He Prabhu ānand dātā, gyān (jñān) hamko dījiye (dīji-e). Shīgra sāre durguno ko, dūr hamse kījiye (kīji-e). (ṛāūī) O Lord, bestower of all happiness, please give us (the correct) knowledge; And quickly take away from us, all (those) vices that make our lives difficult. 1. Lījiye (līji-e) hamko sharan me'(men), ham sadā chārī bane' (banen). Shāntih chāhak (yā, Brahmchārī) dharma rakshak, vīr vrat dhārī bane`. Take us into your shelter (under your wings), and enable us to be pure in our behavior; Wishers of peace (peace-makers), protectors of righteousness, brave (steadfast in our convictions), and faithful to our vows (such as those like celibacy). 2. Nindā kisī kī ham kisī se, bhūl kar bhī nā kare`. Īrshya kabhī bhī ham kisī se, bhūl kar bhī nā kare`. Enable us, even in our sleep (moments of weakness), to remember never to speak ill of anyone; and to also never be jealous of anyone (and try to put them down). 3. Satya bole` jhūth tyāge`, neh (yā mel) āpas me` kare`. Divya jīvan ho hamārā, tere yash gāyā kare` (karen). Help us to speak the truth at all times, to love each other, & to (forever) give up untruth; To make our lives divine (sublime), and to always sing of your (resplendent) glory. 4. Jāy hamārī āyu he Prabhu, lok ke upkār me`. Hāth dāle ham kabhī na, bhūl kar apkār me`. Enable us to devote our age (life), O Lord, to the cause (preservation) of our region; And to never lift our hands to bring destruction and death. 5. Mātribhūmī mātrisevā, ho adhik pyārī hame`. Desh me` sevā mile nij, desh hithakārī bane`. Help us to faithfully serve our motherland and keep it close to our heart; And to fulfill the needs of, and be beneficial to, our country. 6. Kījiye (Kīji-e) ham par kripā, aisī he paramātmā. Moh mad matsar rahit hove hamārī ātmā. Please bestow mercy on us, O Supreme Lord (and Master of the universe); So that attachment, greed, and lust are (completely) eliminated from our souls. 7. Prem se ham guru jano` (janon) kī, nitya hī sevā kare`. Prem se ham sankritī (yā, dukhījano`) kī, nitya hī sevā kare`. Enable us to continually serve our gurus, always with (pure & noble) affection; (to serve the destitute in the same way) and to preserve our culture and traditions. .
