Yes. Canadian army is one of the most important armies in North America. In fact I'd say they were in the top 3. I wouldn't call the F-18A a particularly advanced fighter. They were recently upgraded with new radars, but they were still built in the 90s. Even Ukraine recently refused an offer of Australian Hornets. If there's only 63 available, that's not sufficient to fulfill national and alliance commitments. Also, aren't the Alpha jets contracted trainers? I don't believe we actually own them.

Trudeau gas stated that Canada will not meet the 2% threshold for defense spending, which is required by NATO. They are not alone, but it does not make it right. Last year the US, Australia, Japan and Great Britain met to discuss the growing threat posed by China. Canada was not invited to the meeting. This was a sign from Canada’s traditional friends that they do not take the present Canadian stance on shared defense seriously, so why include them.

We've always been a peace keeping country and it's important to hold that position..but its also important imo to have the capability to defend our country from foreign powers coast to coast to coast. So Canada how do we play catch up and make top 10 list?
