Canadian Pacific 2816 "The Empress"- Steam in Western Canada

Visit beautiful Western Canada and pay a visit to one of North America's handsomest steam locomotives, Canadian Pacific's Hudson 4-6-4 #2816., the Empress.
The 2816 is CP's ambassador of goodwill, and you'll see her pulling a special photo train along the beautiful Bow River through the stunning scenery near Banff and Lake Louise.
Then you'll see her in action pulling a passenger train from Calgary to Edmonton and return. Enjoy great runby action, as well as mile after mile of pacing right alongside the engine.
This program was released in 2006 during 2816's first "post steam" career.
We were using what is now ancient equipment so the image quality is not quite as good as our 2024 release, but one can see 2816 running in several places in western Canada.

I was happy and lucky that i seen in person Canadian Pacific #2816 in Mexico City while it was in the Final Spike Steam Tour, the one thing i would never forget about the tour is i ask the engineer to blow the whistle just for me! It was amazing! Maybe the tour was a distaster or something but in the bright side some mexicans they gave some gifts to the crew of CP 2816 when it was in México city! Thanks for posting this video!

The 2816 shall Visit Oregon someday. And make a travel from Calgary to Corvallis Oregon. Because Corvallis is the home of the Oregon State Beavers and the Canadian Pacific Railway and the CPKC Uses the Beaver as the Main Icon for the Railway in North America. 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇲🇽
