The joke about the blind priest listening to Mr Bean is actually based on a real situation one of the the writers of Father Ted Graham Linahan was in. Sometime after the first series aired, he was on a flight to New York and they showed an episode of Father Ted on the flight but hardly anyone was watching it. Then an episode of Mr Bean came on and almost everyone on the flight put on their headphones to watch it which really annoyed Graham because Mr Bean hardly ever talks.

Yes, I just recognised him. Sadly, in recent years he has been as they say cancelled after being labelled as transphobic because he supports womens rights above trans rights. He says it is why the Father Ted musical was shelved.

I read recently that the people who survive planes on fire and disasters are not the ones who follow instructions and sit calmly waiting to be given instructions but the ones who rush for the exit and push people out of the way and panic and climb over the seats

As a pilot yep, my life insurance covers car crashes more than occupational injury or death. Know what you're talking about as a 90s kid my Dad was also a pilot and I got a lot of jump seat rides in the cockpit and visits. It was pretty standard until 9/11. When I was 6 or 7 I remember sitting in the jump seat into Kai Tak when Dad flew the L110, the only company rule was because I was under 13 a flight attendant had to be in the cockpit as well to keep an eye on me. Now days it's super sterile on who gets to ride up front. Sucks if you're flying with someone who just wants to talk politics or can't hold a conversation.

I once watched an American couple, hyper analyse the TV show (Bottom) as if it was reality, so Megan's need to ponder the reality of a priest sticky taping a plane in mid air is nothing. Perhaps that's just a yank and Canadian thing, as well as the need to predict the storyline of a sit-com, as if there is a prize or some prestige to be gained...lol I will always love your reactions regardless Megan, you cheer up my old heart no end with that smile....x

Great reaction as always, Megan. Always worth remembering that the worst aviation accident in terms of deaths (9/11 wasn't an accident) happened on the ground, not in the air.

Megan its just daft comedy but just for realistic purposes lets pretend the pilot has dropped to a certain safe altitude so that father ted could paper over the cracks figuratively speaking, what gets me how did they get the landing carriage into the living room without taking the door frames out...

@Smithpolly I was being ironic for Megan, she was taking it all to literally, but seriously I love father ted&it crowd,what great imagination those writers have,ted was the star,my favourite character, all episodes were on point,my favourites,the woman's clothing department, world's most sarcastic priest.writing my lovely horse in bedroom smoking,jumping backwards onto bricks,turning the light off only to find out they'd been talking all night to realise it was daylight. To many to mention..
