In Germany by law you have to form a free lane for rescue vehicles as soon as traffic on the Autobahn comes to a stop - even if you can't See why there ist a traffic jam. The cars on the very left lane have to move as far left as possible, the rest hast to moove to the right...

It is a voluntary firefighter brigade in a small upper Bavarian village near the Autobahn A9. In the start they are talking about organizing the response, whether a qualified driver for the second truck with the equipment for cordoning off has already arrived and ordering upcoming volunteers to fetch respiratory protective devices. They speak a rather heavy dialect which no automatic translation system will understand. 5:25 Explaining the fire is on the middle lane, which could be a problem. 5:50 Entering the Autobahn via an emergency access, which is a bit cluttered by vehicles leaving the Autobahn (which is illegal, if not ordered explicitly by the police).

Usually the seat you capture when entering the truck determines what your job is: the water squad, connecting the truck's pump to the (subterranean) Hydrant, the hose squad, responsible for the water supply from the pump to the fire, the attacking squad, rescuing people and extinguishing the fire. You don't have to discuss much. 70% of German firefighters are volunteers. That's amazing.

Yes, they are a volunteer brigade, which is why they arrive with their private cars one by one. Fire brigades have different trucks with different tank sizes, so I have no idea what the volunteers would "usually" have. There's an actual episodic documentary from professional firefighters with bodycams and stuff ("Feuer und Flamme", also on KZbin) showing all sorts of deployments, from minor technical assistance to huge fires -- they do occasional comment along the lines of "that's enough for any car fire, small hedge fire etc., but for this, getting the water supply set up has top priority". And, occasionally, they run into a firefighters "worst nightmare": the water that they brought along is gone, but they haven't been able to establish a supply just yet.

It's not connected to the type of fire department (volunteer vs. career fire department) what type of truck they use. It depends on the town and what is needed for this fire department. If - for example- they have to go to the autobahn frequently for car fires and if they often have the problem of water supply, they might have a truck with a big water tank. Maybe they have other concepts. We don't know that from what we see in the video. Anyway, there is not "that one specific" type of truck that is used in every volunterr fire department. It's actuellay the same way as it is for the career fire departments

And why they are arrive with their civilian cars? They are volunteer firefighters, like most people in Germany. Volunteer firefighters go through exactly the same training as a full-time firefighter, but you don't get paid for your rescuework, you serve the public voluntarily. With the fire department, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), the German Red Cross and many other rescue organizations :). In Germany there are 111 Full-Time fire departments and over 23000 voluntary fire departments.

The emergency lane (Rettungsgasse) isn't ceeated by the police - but all the drivers have to build this lane in the moment the traffic comes to a hold and just in case there's an emergency ahead. So when that fire truck showed up, the emergy lane already was built for a while..

@@uweinhamburg In my small community, the sirens sound every Saturday at 12 p.m. as a test alarm. Last year there was a major fire about 400-500 meters away and I was already sleeping soundly and didn't hear anything. The next morning around 5 a.m. I got up and wondered why it smelled so burnt. The fire was reported around 11 p.m. and the fire department extinguished the fire most of the night, as the warehouse was filled with fireworks and old batteries . Since the warehouse was located directly near a railway line, train traffic was temporarily stopped. To those who first reported the fire, it looked as if the trees and bushes on the railway embankment were burning.

I was a volunteer firefighter in Germany for 25 years with special training in hazardous materials and radiation protection. What is important for us is the response time. The response time is the most important planning and quality criterion for fire and rescue service operations. The laws of the federal states on rescue services and fire protection as well as municipal fire protection requirement plans set maximum values for the response time and additional protection targets (response time and staffing levels) for fire protection. The density of the network of rescue centres and fire stations as well as their personnel and material resources are based on this. Compliance with the response time can be checked using the dispatch documentation of the control centres.

@@michaelkruse4864 could not because of the size of the crew. It could be a TLF16/25 with a 6man crew. A TLF8/18 is mostly one of the old Norms, and you have normaly nowadays exemption from the so called "trupp-Kabine" to a "Gruppen-Kabine or "Staffel-Kabine". In my Volunteer department we had a TLF 8/18 with a "Trupp Kabine" and we change to a group cabin when it cames new it is now a TLF3000 with group cabin. @untilweregoing "trupp-Kabine" means 1 Driver, the leader, and 1 Firefighter total 3firefighter(mostly for utility trucks like a tanker (TLF or Tanklöschfahrzeug) Staffel Kabine means 1 Driver, 1 Leader and 4 firefighter (2 Firemen builds a Squad ( so we have 2 squads) and last we have the Gruppen Kabine with 9 firefighter, 1 Driver, 1 leader, 3 Squads and a so called Melder (he is a more like a firefighter which directed orders from the leader to the squads or other units, command posts etc. and / or have other specific tasks) Each person has per law in their state a dedicated tasks, so with changeable crews you know always what kind of task you have to do.

In the actual Norm there is no LF20/xx or HLF20/xx. I didn't remeber there was this Norm inbetween. And since in the actual Norm there is no 1800l Version of anything (knowing that in the actual Norm the tank size is a minum size and may ne Niger than that). In general, a fire truck typically carries between 500 and 30000 liters of water or foam agent, depending on the type of vehicle, to extinguish various types of fires. Photos serve to document the condition of the vehicle before, during, and after the extinguishing operation. This documentation can later be used for insurance claims, investigations into the cause of the fire, or internal analyses. Particularly in cases of fires that may be attributed to deliberate arson, photos can serve as evidence. They allow investigators to document the fire's origin and the condition of the vehicle before it is extinguished. The photos can also be used for training purposes, showing other firefighters various aspects of the extinguishing operation. They can be used to demonstrate successful tactics or to analyze mistakes and learn from them. In some cases, photos of firefighting operations can also be used for public relations purposes, raising awareness of fire hazards or honoring the work of the fire department.

Depends on the size of the tanker. The 4000 tanker is designed for use on forest fires, vehicle fires on motorways and interurban roads and for general firefighting operations in remote areas. The tanker carries up to 6,000 litres of water and 500 litres of foam compound - optionally in two foam compound tanks. This has the advantage that you can transport 2 different types of foam.

@@lappilappland3708 That's true. Good point. There are also smaller vehicles like the TSF-W or the KLF that carries what you mentioned or even the TSF that doesn't eben carry an water. Then there is the MLF that has 600-1000 liters. As a first respnse vehicle (or even as the only vehicle of that fire department) you see those typically in fire departments of very small towns but I would assume that fire departments that are responsible for parts of the Autobahn would have an LF or HLF.

The vehicles on the road from 5:50 are doing something forbidden. Where the fire truck enters the highway. Is it forbidden for “private” vehicles to drive up and down. The vehicles leave here because they are stuck in a traffic jam. Use is only permitted for road maintenance vehicles, police and emergency vehicles. Ultimately, these even disrupt the driveway. Of course there are also cases where it is “allowed”. Then the police are there too...

As far as I know, there was no police to craeate the emergency lane, you have to do so by law. The drivers stopped on their own in a secure distance instead of driving by and not giving a sh*t. The drivers alerted the firefighters and for sure did provide help as there is the law about "Unterlassene Hilfeleistung", where you can be charged, if you do not help another person in an accident or health emergency. ANY help is better, than no help and we have to pass our firstbaid test before we get our drivers licence. There is the discussion after how many years you have to fresh up your knowledge on that. Edit: have you seen the video of a German police officer giving gawkers a reality check and shaming them when they pass an accident filming dead bodies etc.

Source of the fire? maybe electical, than can happen very quickly, it can take a while to a Car to really Explode, well exept Electric Cars, they can blow up easier They took Pictures for the Press or for Documentary, because they need to file a report on it, maybe for insurence And wow your German is quite good
