They missed the Golden Jackal, currently migrating from the Balkans back to Middle Europe; the iconic Red kite (Rotmilan, Gabelweihe, Königsweihe), of which whole groups are playing in the air at windy days, sometimes mixing with common buzzards; the osprey (Fischadler); the different kestrels (Falken); the roe deers (Reh) regularly visiting our garden; the wild boars (Wildschwein) regularly harrying gardens and public parks in Berlin; the still endangered Eurasian otter (Fischotter); the stoat (Hermelin) and its relatives, the little least weasel (Mauswiesel) and the beech marten (Steinmarder), infamous for nibbling through cables and tubes in parked cars; the bad-tempered European badger (Dachs); ... Not to forget the invaders from North Amerika, namely the muskrat (Bisamratte) and the racoon (Waschbär), causing many problems.

the famous "Zapfhahn" is often seen in conjuction with the even more infamous "Schluckspecht". they can be observed all year round but end of September is propably the best time.

We have special facilities on the shore that are mostly just for grey seals (most of the time baby’s) there they are being fed and helped to be freed and live in the nature later on.

The lynx is a bit more widespread by now. I even had the incredibe luck to see one by pure chance, when I was sleeping in the woods. In general, that was a mixture of very rare animals (like basically all species of eagles) and some very common ones like the red fox and the fire salamander.

There are so many animals more, that weren't in the Video. We have Wild Boars (Wildschweine), Red Deer (Rotwild) Kingfisher (Eisvogel), Capercaillie (Auerhuhn), Wildcats (Wildkatzen) and some cities even have some populations of Budgies (Wellensittiche), who are escaped from their owners and due to some very mild winters, they grew in numbers

Moin 👍 all wild animals are beautiful and need to be protected, because it’s our wonderful nature and our world that we live in 🫶

Question. Spiders, are they beautiful too? Cause they aren’t classified as animals.

Also spiders are part of our nature, even if the are not always as beautiful as other animals! And since when they are no longer animals???? Maybe I missed something in biology class😉

"Feuersalamander" is pronounced "foyer salamander". Both the "eu" and the "äu" diphtongs are "oi/oy" sounds. 🙂

better write "foier" salamander, a foyer salamander (spoken with french accent) is something completely different (slimy but good looking guy which lingers in the lobby of hotels waiting for prey (women)). (Austria/might be local slang)

The lynx needs a lot of space to roam. Germany is very densely populated, so the lynx actually doesn't find enough paths to walk. That's why the population is small and each individual is welcome because they fulfill important ecological tasks. For decades, nature conservation organizations have been working on "green" passages that generally allow wild animals to roam Germany without coming into conflict with people. This is only achieved inadequately. The lynx, for example, would easily range from the Alps in the south to the coasts in the north; it can live in many environments. But there are no continuous paths for him.

We can't let " mother nature take its course" as long as earth's biggest predators aka humans are still around !

"Feuer" is pronounced rather similar to "fire" (which sounds to German ears as it would be written as Feiar, which looks very similar to "Feier" = celebration.) 🙃
