Canadian Snowbirds: How Long Can Canadians Stay in the US?

The allowable stay maximum ISN'T 6 MONTHS, IT'S 180 DAYS. Not the same thing.

Hi thank you. one quick question, in 2023 a Canadian snowbird stayed for 71 days in one entry (Aug - Oct) and in 2024 next entry in Usa statying for 120 days . (may -sept ) Totalling around 191 days , considering both per entry's days addition. (but if Aug 2023 - Aug 2024, as one full year is considered then its less than 180 days ) . So, q here is can that person stay visit and explore usa till sept 2024 . Q here is will it be counted as 191 days , by adding previous two yrs.? or separate as 180 days per entry. ?

Eric Mackhan Did you watch the video? She literally answered your question. She said you cannot stay more than 6 months in a 365 day period. What you're asking breaks that rule. Better to ask for an extension to stay longer than 6 months.

Although Canada has a Federal Law when traveling out of Canada up to 182 days (can be consecutive) per calendar year, each Province also has their own regulations. Therefore it would be wise to look at the individual Province you are a resident in and see what length of time they allow. Some of the Provinces have added an additional month, bringing the total to 212 days, but in this case you have to return to the Province by 182 days before taking the additional time.

Duh. Use your US passport when you get to the US border. When you are returning to canada, use your Canuck passport at the canadian border.
