This is timely. I was at west ed for a brief moment today. It was not recognizable to me. I haven't been for a few years. I don't know what to say anymore. It was dirty and dusty and the energy felt gross. Just gross. The minority was white and i felt i was in another country....there is no doubt. I am never going back there. I’m a descendent of native Indians. Mi’kmaq specifically . I’m also Acadian and Scottish. My Acadian ancestors arrived 1605. The country my ancestors entered was not a country but an empty land mass with zero infrastructure that they built from scratch. The native population were nomadic and settled land was non existent. There were no immigrations offices or a social security network. The land was hostile especially during the winter and many settlers either died travelling here or died the first year of arrival from starvation and exposure. But they prevailed and built Canada. My native ancestors didn’t build shit. And on top of that were also “migrants” if you want to use that term as they are descendants of Asia. Vikings predate natives in Canada. The only difference was the Vikings left after attempting to settle in what would eventually be called Newfoundland. So yeah, school me on your “facts” or does that not come into play?
